I just hope its not blown up inthe next 2 weeks

I think it will get babied all the way up there, raped a bit on the dyno then babied on the way back.  :noel:

So the supercharger is going to blow into the turbo, with some sort of bypass for when the turbo is doing more sucking than the supercharger is blowing?  Or?  And do you have enough room for both, and took plumb it all together?  That turbo is fucking enormous.

Turbo => S/C => inter cooler => TB => engine

There will be a by pass around the S/C when the s/c clutch is disengaged.

The compressor wheel size of the HE351ve is very similar in size to the HX40 at 60mm inducer 80mm exducer.

The turbine housing is just freakin' hugh due to the use VGT, which basically acts as means to "A" in A/R of turbine side.

A/R of like .5 to 1.1 is roughly what it be like.

I'll start at the largest A/R and work my way up to what I want for my goals.

I wouldn't recommend using the SC clutch except to save a cunthair more gas while cruising. The clutch will not like constantly engaging with a 20-30hp load on it instantly if you work it at WOT. When bypassed, the SC is just moving air; almost no power is used to turn it.

I honestly think the only reason MB uses a clutch is for that extra bit of gas savings to attain better emissions.

And to improve thermal efficiency due to air recirculating between lobes and casing wall.  :noel:

Alright I have turbo on with the radiator support clearance and the hood barely shuts.  :noel:

To get the He351ve to fit, I had to cut the mounting ear on the S/C not being used.

Ground for clearance

More grounding for clearance

Had to replace the mounting studs

Lucky I had this coupler going from 2.5" to 3.0 90deg, had to shorten it on the turbo side.

This where I'm at until tomorrow :noel:

Already ran the oil drain, not pictured here.

Next I'll work on the radiator and ducting setup.

Then finish 3" exhaust from turbo to resonator.

Ordered a turbo blanket and 50' of 1" wide header wrap, should see that this week.  :noel:

I bet grinding that off the housing took forever.

Looking good, what cylinder rod bearing you plan on spinning this year? :P :P

Nice work

$5 says you warped the turbo housing with the grinding heat. ;DDD Fuck that must have been either a big grinder, or one that's now burnt out.

If ya talking about the turbine housing, I used an industrial grinding wheel at the foundry I work at.  :noel:

Well, make sure you put your header in the trunk along will all your tools when your making the trek up to the dyno day. That way when you hit Montana and something shits itself You can at least put it on and drive it na. Other than that how are you going to control the vgt?

I'll have two tabs with bolts to adjust to one setting, or a range.  :noel:

Cover that in the next couple days.  :noel:

If you have the VGT solenoid it is possible to hook a EBC output up to control it :)

You'd just need to finagle the settings to make it work properly.

I plan on trying to use my egr as a wastegate this way... We will see how that goes.

Russ just kills himself by doing too much at once. It's always something small that ends up being impossible to track down since he has 14 unusual things added each step...

Russ get one thing working at a time and you'll be good.

No WG going with adjusting the VGT to full open.

Then adjust when needed.  :noel:

It WILL still overboost even with the vanes wide open. I promise this as we have already tried this with a vitara D and this turbo. You still need a wg to control overall boost pressure. With the vanes wide open it was slow to spool, but would still make 30psi+

Alright I'd follow your advise and pull the manifold turbo off and get the 50mm WG added on top of the mani, with a 90deg bend.

I already took the radiator support back out and unbolt everything, got to bring it to work b/c I do not have the means to put a hole in the mani.  :noel:
