« on: October 16, 2009, 08:52:35 PM »

This info may be well known by many, but this seems to be a great collection of info on the diesel turbo that we all love.

http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/vbarticles.php?do=article&articleid=122

Here is a link with tons of models, and a search function.

Lot's of good info all in one place. Good find. And yes the casting inside the turbine inlet is super handy. Gillett diesel has the best upgrades for the holsets that I have seen http://www.gillettdiesel.com/

Which will require a search button, or maybe a sticky, and has been covered many times before.  Yet I predict he will fail.

Some more info I thought should be posted here, instead of having to go to links.

holset turbine size converted to a/r. Not 100%, but close enough.

6cm2 = 0.41 A/R
7cm2 = 0.49 A/R
8cm2 = 0.57 A/R
9cm2 = 0.65 A/R
10cm2 = 0.73 A/R
11cm2 = 0.81 A/R
12cm2 = 0.89 A/R
14cm2 = 0.97 A R
15cm2 = 1.05 A/R
16cm2 = 1.13 A/R
17cm2 = 1.29 A/R
19cm2 = 1.37 A/R

Yeah, but on what turbine wheel?  With identical A/R housings, the "nozzle" size expressed in cm^2 for a T25 turbine and for a P-trim turbine is going to be waaaaay different.

Directly measuring nozzle size is about the only thing MHI did better than Garrett.

Exactly.  Don't know how many times I've had to explain this to people.

fuck your mothers

So I've been comparing specs all day and am wondering if the wh1c and hx35 are the same fucking thing.

The wheel specs are the same, and both turbines are 12cm^2. Not totally sure on how different each of the compressor housings flow.

As soon as the server shit with TurboByHolset.com gets taken care of, I'd check that site for some of this.

If you check with Weir on here he can make you some v-band flanges, but you will need to give him some measurements.

BTW where is your noob post and porn. :?:

ive been a member of HMT since '03 so when i found this REAL site i didnt think about posting noob material.

im just asking this question because i have taken measurements on my personal turbo, but i have read about people using several different sizes online with absolutely no luck finding any concrete numbers. its getting a little bit frustrating. when i came across this site i breathed a sigh of relief and figured if anyone could help me out it would be you guys.

just for future reference, as this is my first vband turbo, when ordering a vband set... i order them by the measurement of the ID of the outlet on my turbocharger?
