not much to report, still waiting on engine parts and my neighbor to weld a couple parts for my wastegates.

Tried to assemble my 'backup' motor so I could get it running sooner.
My main clearances measured all fucked up.
Either the shop screwed up the line hone, or I suck at measuring shit.
#2 0.0015, #3 0.0025 #4 0.0010
First time at using dial bore gauge/micrometer combo so i'm hoping its just me not using it right.
Might throw it together with plasti gauge and see if those measurements are as fucked.

Did manage to get the charge piping and intercooler end tanks welded


Got the last parts of the charge piping mocked up now, hope to have it welded tonight.
Vband straight to the turbo, coupler on the passenger side, coupler on the throttle body...
shouldn't have any headaches like my integras 7 couplers.


seat mount from scrap steel, tried to keep it as low as possible and cheated it towards the center.
Don't want to brain myself on the halo


slaved over making an extensive exhaust, also was bored so I checked to see if a headlight still fit on the driver side.

These main clearances were all over the board.  Nothing like mix and matching aftermarket bearings to get it right. 


How fast you think we can get this thing on a junk/stock sleeve engine?

Its been a while since I've added pictures of this pile of fuck.

Used cams I bought were fucked, broke down and got a new set.
I should quit buying used shit to save $200, reality ended up wasting $400 on top of buying new ones.  Budget is now in the negative...

couldn't find the right length bolt for a hydro trans but short enough for the cable T bracket.

Only a few more things need done before I can turn the key and burn it down when this engine turns out to be fucked.
-mount dual pumps in tank
-run fuel line, regulator, and filter
-throw in the rywire harness
-top off fluids
-clean the intercooler out from any drilling chips
-run a couple vac lines.

Still a decent list before it can go down the track, but I want to hear this thing make some noise.
I took some time off to get caught up at work, work on other peoples shit, housework, keep the wife happy.
Now its time to ignore everything else and get this thing on the dyno.

I've left a breaker bar with a socket attached to the end on the crank pulley bolt before....lol needless to say I had to go get a new socket. It split that bitch in half. Sears was like wtf did you do to this socket....lol

yup. crank pulley will definitely make you jump.  that and the key to a lathe chuck narrowly missing your balls.

Last night I literally fell asleep on the creeper looking where I should add the second brace to this battery tray.
I think that bolt hole just to the left is perfect but I rolled underneath to see if there were any other options.
woke up like wtf am I doing here?

yup. i have broken a socket before doing that.. :?:




on my CRX I welded a brace from the back outside of the tray up to the frame rail area, maybe 8-10" or so? I can look for a pic tonight for ya.

I've been told you can zip tie the pumps to the stock hanger, but I can't see how to reach in the tank and make that work.

I looked at pictures of the Full Blown hanger and modeled my own in Solidworks.  Had a buddy that was going to make a couple from 6061, till he broke his finger to the point of 2 surgeries to put 2 plates and 10 screws in. He's off work for weeks.

Had the top plate cut on a water jet from steel instead and picked up metal from lowes for a couple bucks.
Should work, but I'll find out tonight hopefully.

Getting the cotter pins in there was a total cunt, glad I didn't do as others and weld little nuts and use bolts in there.
I figured the things can only flop around a tiny amount with a cotter pin.

Hammered out a random piece of sheet metal


Mounted my ignition box to the firewall with it


Did a fancier one from the same sheet to mount my coil and boost solenoid under the hood but must have forgot to take any pictures.

Should make engine sounds tonight or tomorrow as soon as I get all these wires buttoned up and tied down.

fired it up sometime this morning, there's a shitty vid on facebook.


This switch box is bad ass.
I had all the components laid out to build my own fuse/relay box and switch board.
Saw this for sale online for less than half what I could buy the parts for so I scooped it.

It has circuit breakers instead of fuses so if you slip up and overdraw something you aren't fucked until you replace a fuse, just reset the breaker.
Customer service is top notch, it came damaged and they told me they'd fix it real cheap even though they knew I bought it used and dead. And they turned it around and shipped it back the same day they got it.
It was brainless.  I had a big schematic drawn on how I was going to wire everything and I was proud of it.  I threw it away and ran power and ground to this thing, then ran a wire to each component that this thing controls... done.

Hopefully it performs as well as it seems when I'm beating on it down the track

Looks like its pretty old and can't be bought anymore
Their current version has a small switch panel and a separate relay panel connected with a ribbon.

The shifter is a b & m sport or something.
I used new shift linkage as well and I don't really have any play between the two.

yup.

I did do a bunch of tedious little shit.
-tow it down the street and use an old neighbors air compressor to lock vtec and degree the cams in.
-cleaned the intercooler out of any aluminum chips from fab.
-ran all the vac lines
-got the clutch lines ran and bled (have to brace the master mount, twisted as soon as the air was gone)
-started it up and held it at 3-4k rpm for about 20 minutes then changed the oil
-got fluids in the trans
-wired in the boost solenoid and msd box/coil
-wired in a slim fan, still need to find or buy new zip strip mounting things
-repo'd my b16 distributor from my buddy since an msd cap wouldn't fit the gsr one I had on there.


I think I have to set the valve lash and wire the msd trigger to the distrubutor, then find a way and some time to drag it out to Tom's for a tune.  IF I didn't fuck something up and it survives I'll weld the harness brackets in, wire the minimum required lights in and take it to the track. All my buddies want to go Friday but not sure if I can swing that, I wanted to have it ready waiting on the trailer Sunday but don't think I touched it much all weekend

It's almost worth it for me to take a few days off from work to fly out and see this thing really come to life... you've really come a long way since that first teg I met you with man, fantastic work!

For serious though, if you think you can swing a long weekend of minimal responsibility to get this thing done and dynoed, let me know and maybe ill fly out a kitchen fire extinguisher...
