$16 digital anything gauge
« on: June 08, 2010, 11:27:13 PM »

thought this was interesting:

http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Digital-Red-LED-Volt-DC-10V-Panel-Meter-rescalable-/370326104110?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item563927e82e

cheap panel meter with software and a USB to serial converter to rewrite the output scalar and offset.

so pretty much feed any linear voltage signal to the box, put the correct y=mx+b values in and get desired unit readings out. nice, cheap digital boost gauge, just tap the MAP sensor signal. same with WBO2 output (the linear ones anyway- aren't all the newest gen wbo2's linear?). as long as you know the transfer function of the sensor, this will work as a gauge.

awesome.  Now to find a blue one, and use it on both the oil pressure gauge and boost.

Search for ME-SP037 which is the product number.  It turns up the red panel which uses that number, and the blue panel that tags a B on the end: ME-SP037B

There are handy product documentation and software downloads on the site.  Very nice!

that's what i've been trying to figure out too. most of the panel meters out there are only like 2-3 updates/second, which is pretty fucking pathetic for anything running a microcontroller IMO.

Whoever gets this first, post the model of the uC. Probably a pic, but the pictures look like it's sanded or photoshopped. I'm sure a rewrite wouldn't be hard at all, and the sample rate could be improved, as long as you can solder SMD.  ;)

is that 18 and 19 or 2 and 3?

if you mean the 2 on the lower left side it appears they do not

The dot is pin one, and you count widdershins around the chip.  There are five pins used for in circuit programming, and 18/19 are the specific clock and data lines.  Either they are run to a header somewhere, have been used for something else which disables ICSP, or are ignored.

Anyone played around with Auber Instruments stuff? It's not dollar store prices, but still seems pretty cheap.

I use their PID controller for my home brewing setup.

I've bought a few of them. The main thing we have used them for is as an EGT gauge on our diesel combines.  They work VERY well, and compared to any other normal EGt gauge are extremely cheap.  Mounting is extremely easy with those snap in tabs.   The output is nice in that application, have it turn on a small LED light as a warning etc.

I know this is a bump from the dead, but I was wondering if anyone found another gauge like this?
I was able to find the auger ones on eBay for like $60-$70 shipped, and they say you can hook whatever up.

Is anyone running one of these, and what are you monitoring?

How would I go about hooking a map sensor to it, and how would I convert the decimal numbers to the correct psi/vacuum numbers?

Could I technically read fuel pressure, and what sensor would I need?

I guess that is all.. I just want to really see your creativity with these.
