^weak ass 1g shorter shifter everyone puts in these things SUCKS, so i hacked up the Galant one. for what i call the perfect height (stock Galant was about 1.5inch taller than mine), bent towards me (instead of the stock away) and now uses a 10x1.5 knob (like a Honda)... its cleaned up and black now.

think thats all for now... come back later for more lol...  :Jew:

RacingHart Type C2... 17x7.5 (im told) 3 piece. not sure on the offset. about 38-40et im guessing... judging by the casting marks on the back, circa 1999.  :noel:
these will be painted to mimic the stock wheels (pull the centers/caps and painted Belize Green). then probably get some 225/40's, cuz these 205/40s hopefully smoke up ;)

probably not going to touch the motor. i might put some HKS272's in it. but we will see how fast i can get this thing moving.

when/if i build a 2.4 tho. probably will need a ported TB, ported intake, etc.

You can tell yourself it's not a DSM all you want, it's still a Mitsufeces.

yeah, i will probably bring this to the meet. would like to bring the CRX also. and maybe a Hyundai with a turbo swap  :mexi:

GVR4 will be getting the wheels above. PROBABLY with the centers/caps color matched to the car. and some 225-45-17 tires. lowered on something... RHMT EVO IX suspension, or taiwanese coilovers unless i can find some baller USA/JDM coilovers for jew'ness.

CRX will hopefully be on some 16" TE37's before spring, and have a RHMT'ed A6 swap... i dont promise that tho lol... (the showing up, wheels, or running)

You can tell yourself it's not a DSM all you want, it's still a Mitsufeces.

as long as we are clear that Chrysler had no part in this.

What you're really not getting is that Chrysler wasn't the problem with DSM...

ehh, still not my style. but it does look good aside from the  :mexi:  status. watching CL right now. think i found some 225-45-17 bridgestones for 150bucks used, 7-8/32... for the 4... the tires on the wheels are minty fresh 205-40-17s... just too small. little shorter than the stock wheels/tires (195-60-15). would be nice to have tire little larger, and definitely wider.

so i got a promotion of sorts at work, and i work mon-fri now. so i was able to sneak my car in the shop at work today lol. did the suspension. the guys on the GVR4 forum have done this many times. im using 57mile '06 EVO IX GSR stock suspension. i cut about 1.5 coils off the front. swapped the Galant top hats to the front. the rear i cut the stock bushing off the Galant shock, and welded it to the EVO shock... RHMT yo!  it rides nice and stiff...kinda like an EVO  ::)

pulled it out back to get a decent pic.

i had one of the guys there help me align it real quick. he sets it up then goes "YES!... i dont have to align the rear!" lol. referring to the AWS setup.
got like -.5-.7 camber on the fronts i think. dont recall the rears. drives nice tho. needed aligned even at stock height really.

yes, i realize i could probably use a coil cut out the rear also. but i was running low on time, didnt feel like fuckin with it anymore...

thats all for today. i might work on some fuel/tuning/intercooler shit tomorrow... might. its probably going to rain, then ill bitch out... unless i can push the CRX far enough forward in the garage to sneak the bumper inside?... mmm...

I actually like the rake it has now. But it will probably get aid in front traction with stiffer rear springs. I'd just leave it as-is.

well, we will see how it looks on the new wheels. with the OEM;s in place i dont mind the look. and im too lazy to change. but with the new 17s and lowpro tires? might need lowered some more in the back. i cant lower the front anymore as there is no more tension on the spring lol. i might get some custom GC sleeves/springs. but asis im fine.

thanks.

i think that all the EVO suspensions have the same problem. plus you cant use the EVO camber plates unless you redrill the body for the different pattern.

stock intercooler setup is a fuckin joke. rediciously long chargepipes, large oil cooler...err small intercooler. ehh. but there sure is some room for a front mount in there.

when i was ordering something for my CRX turbo from the dealer i had them cut me a new key. i had a shit ass sheetmetal stamped out key from a locksmith. was weakness. OEM one is just about the same, one above was some number posted on the GVR4 forum. you can also see the keyfob number plate i stuck to the back of my alarm remote lol.

installed the SupraTT/Denso fuel pump a while back, along with the 680s and MAF-Translator. still no intercooler installed. been lazy with mounting the intercooler and finishing the pipes...

first off, YES I STILL OWN THIS lol. fuck im lazy/ADD...

this weekend i finally put the intercooler on. yeah i test fit it and hacked the car up some to get shit to fit. but when the day was done i still didnt think it was gonna fit well. (it didnt)

there where many setbacks, lots of procrastination, and just buying of other shit. this car ran and drove, so ehh. but it could use some more drivablity and boost. everytime it would go into boost it would freak out. im assuming cuz there was a boost leak somewhere.

anyway. me babbling again... here is the car porn...

complete shit that was on the GVR4. not sure it was all GVR4, might be some other DSM/EVO8/X shit lol.
only thing i kept off of it was the stock BOV. rest is new.

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi276.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fkk32%2Fefssuck2%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20121118_122905.jpg&hash=f9f3218888b5e344ddbe1c7bcbea42ac534eac18)
this was the hardest part. stupid ass AC lines and other shit all in the way. had to get creative. but its solid. turned out good.

was going to do one piece, but this seemed simpler to assemble. also the way i have seen others (ETS) do it.

oh yeah. this is all OEM....Honda. lol its a 151R battery. for Fit/Civic Hybrid's. its like a 51R, just 2-3in narrower. plus OEM Honda mounting shit....i work at Honda. also trimmed the battery tray. you can fit 2 of these batteries in the OEM try. this one tested out at 470cca when new. rated at like 340 or something.

it has two dead holes.... appears to have burnt a couple valves?

buddy has a 2.4L motor (6bolt G4SC?) that he was building for one of his cars and has realized he doesnt need it lol. has offered it to me at cost, just needs assembled and then my head needs a couple valves....

he also knows of some 'HKS' 264/272 cams for deals along with an AEM...one of his buddies is parting a dsm, it might donate some 5lug....

still debating this. but think thats the plan right now....

yeah buddy put a 2.4 in his GF's car. it went 12.60s on tired ass 2.0 w/16g at lots of boost(28-30?). 12psi off the line(automatic), she said it felt slow. they put a heavy rod 2.4 in it. same 16g, like 16-17psi? NO LAUNCH, went 12.1 on the single shakedown pass lol.

he said its stupid fun. spins all 4 no problem. boost tappers off on top of course. says its kinda hard to handle with the 2.4 tq, and instant power delivery of the 16g.

hoping mine with the bigger turbo is more tame, but lays down more power.

anyway. gonna dig around, see what kinda money i have to spend. do my taxes with the quickness, and get this B18C build and swapped into my buddies car. then i can get started on 2.4 build and swap.

EKK24 is on hold until further notice.

well... yeah, but the EK got the push because i got the car. there really was no set plans to have it done anytime soon. i was gonna build the motor/tranny/turbokit and look for a chassis later. just happen to find the bulk of the shit asap lol.

the Galant....well it needed a 2.4L from the get go. along with real engine management. i think this is what killed the car. and what is killing it for me.

B18C/EG runs great and is gone. made a couple more bucks to put towards the GVR4.

no real progress other than when i was looking for headstuds, i found a head lol. mild port, aftermarket springs/retainers (Si?) along with it being a known good working head, that mine isnt....and for pretty damn good deals. like less than what it would cost to come close to doing my head right lol. i personally would and still might just lap in some valves, replace seals, and call it a day.... this other way seems better cuz it has springs for cams later, and has "mild port"

i need to stay off the forums before i spend every paycheck for the next 6months....  :-\

i said something about needing different cam gears? well there they are. look like every other big ass mitsu cam gears... but these are for a 2.4 DOHC. so the timing marks are off by half a tooth each.

-Cometic MLS HG... .051"/1.3mm thick, 87mm bore.
-SS braided oil line kit. off the oil housings as they call it. this turbo, or high pressure turbos, whatever i guess like direct oil. suggested by DSM homie, and i think Forced performance the maker of my turbo.
-EGR blockoff. that apparently didnt come tagged with some shop name, cool.
-new timing belt. special one year only 94 Galant GS DOHC. jew closeout pricing..

no other pics really cuz i was working, now im tired and lazy... so i got the motor/swap out. not bad i guess for my first (only!) time doing this.
anyway. its out, and mostly torn down to longblock. i dont have an impact, so i cant get the crank gear or flywheel bolts out. so i cant get the pump off. might try a trick or two tomorrow. or bring the hole thing to my homies place and leave it there LOL.

looks like i need to order a clutch disc, and a couple of inner axle boots.   :-\

might be picking up some ForcedPerformace FP2 cams (aka HKS 272/272s) tomorrow also?

Clevite77 bearings (all spec'ed)
Eagle rods (standard length)
Wiesco pistons (.045 P2W, dont remember rings, like .026 and .022... about 8.8:1CR)

it will be powered by the same turbo as before. which i originally bought cuz i wanted a 2.4...
Forced Performance "RED" turbo...its like a 60-1 compressor, TD06h center section, TD07 ported turbine... idk, something like that. i forget the MHI names. along with that baller coated O2 housing that i cant remember who makes, with TiAL 38mm wastegate vented to atmosphere. turbo manifold is an EVOIII unit w/OEM shield.

big block 2.4L  8)

i took pics of the engine internals, uploaded them....then realized i already posted them lol... so yeah, still look the same.

balance shafts deleted. :-*  install this handly little OEM gear stub in the pump, put some BS bearings in wrong (or special delete ones with no oil holes) and rail a freeze plug on the other side to cover the hole from the other shaft.

forgot the ARP headstud w/headgasket installed right before head goes on pic. so classic. oh well.
bled all the lifters, thew them in with rockers, and new cams, seals, 2.4 cam gears.etc

looks like im out of pics...

hardware store was closed, autoparts stores are fuckin garbage. gonna get some shit to delete extra sensors and coolant lines, and oil cooler...  idea is to get rid of shit that could cause issues, like leaking/breaking...

EGR and some misc coolant sensor/vacuum things. sometimes its the little things. also capped off one oil pressure switch thing on the oil filter, moved the other one. some of these are extra i think cuz the motor was not originally a Galant motor.

im not doing too bad, as far as that goes. its defiantly a different car. taking my time. things are just different and not honda, and i like the way honda does most shit.

after some discussion on engine management. i have changed my mind again. i really dont care to tinker with this car, i just want it to run drive, and do it fast. might have found an eeprom ECU + dsmlink v2.5 for cheap. waiting to hear back and for me to get paid, this car has broken me. dsmlink is stock based and uses MAF, just gonna be simpler to tune.
might have found a local shop with a AWD Dynojet, waiting to confirm and pricing. probably get this tuned before spring on the dyno.... needs bigger (and not H-rated, and dryrotted) tires before any pulls are made... so will be looking for a good OEM set of Evo9 Enkei's with tires...

fuckme im an old man in pain... tomorrow is gonna be great ::)

day started with the tranny stuck in some imaginary gear. was waiting on my DSM buddy to show up to work some magic.

so i spent like an hour trying to get the water pump pulleys on (maybe not that long), horrible fuckin idea/design/etc. got all the belts and shit on. everything tensioned.

i started work on putting TiAL bov on in place of the 1g DSM valve.

buddy shows up, looks over everything. says thats odd, fucks around with it for a min or two. then grabs hammer and hits it.... well fuck, i was gonna do that ::)  works great, even better after some adjustments.

so yeah, tranny works!... so now i can put axles (with new boots), t-case (bitch), and....

the TiAL all posted up ready for action.

i think it needs coolant....probably some water wetter. really i think thats all it needs for startup... but its late and dark, look it over with fresh eyes tomorrow after work.

runs, drives, happy.

lifters where noisy as fuck for a while. didnt think one would shut up, finally did. fan wont turn on by its self. jumpers fine. i think i might have shorted out the switch? car runs super cool when moving. even with that HUGE ass intercooler, and the AC condenser taking up space. which btw seem to annoy my friends that came over, they kept pointing a laser thermometer at everything....seemed displeased. apparently her 2.4 is running 20-40* warmer than mine?

Well, yeah.  The average person is a retard and has no idea what they are doing, or the criteria by which to select good test gear.

what dyno you suggest?

Anything with an eddy or water brake.  Except Dynojet, theirs doesn't work right - not that many DJ's have them.

that picture was fallowed by a "start at 20psi"  from one of my friends. ::)

work for now to start dialing it in. looks like 8psi. and an assload of vacuum, didnt think with these cams and 175miles on the motor it would pull that much.
still need to find a legit spot to put a gauge, just kinda railed it in there. seems to work.

I STILL OWN THIS.... IT RUNS AND DRIVES.... if i drove it i mean lol... been sitting for 3 weeks i think? didnt want to start (pretty standard issue now) and was covered in pine needles. gave it a quick squirt down to get rid of the needles, and a trip around the block.

the right front bumper light as been broken since before i even got the car. it holds the piece it has in place fine, blinks etc. problem is that Galant's are hard to find, even in junkyards. no one seems to want to sell me a single bumper light. and only VR4's had clear lights from what i gather.

last week i think? there was 2 galants at the pick n pull. 89 and a 92? 89 is cool cuz its a non SRS car, so no stupid ass motorized seat belts. car had PERFECT interior too... sexy blue....wait. fuck. but it did have a minty ass set of orange bumper lights, so i swooped both lenses and passenger housing to swap onto my car.

was looking over the junkyards online (row52.com and app) and i found what it says is a 1989 Ford F250...really did look like a 1993 Galant tho lol. so i hit up the JY today to see whats up. cuz 1993 was a 1 year only headlamp housing, but still my body style...

so this 1993 Galant (or Ford F250 if you wanna believe that shit) had clear bumper lights? no argument, just snagged up the passenger lens to match mine.
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi276.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fkk32%2Fefssuck2%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20131103_153733.jpg&hash=7c3b6098306e42cd953c0c295691edb9c894c970)
so there they both are... not sure which i actually like better?? i swapped the clear ones back on the car tho. thats the way its suppose to be...

also the super score...
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi276.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fkk32%2Fefssuck2%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20131103_153740.jpg&hash=0d789240979b55f9cfe4bc34a230893d3999a019)
1993 Galant headlights.... this was after some clean up. and re-painting the outsides of the glass black (its done like that OEM, both my old ones, and these where mostly chipped off).

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi276.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fkk32%2Fefssuck2%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20131103_154431.jpg&hash=6be520025046291524443b8a13421b9005567ae8)

my OG housing is on the bottom to get an idea of the difference. top one has some moisture in it from me washing them. also has a tiny pinhole. should be fine. almost none of the chrome is pealing, which seems to be a issue with these.

so i put the clear lenses back on, and swapped the 1993 headlights on... wasnt that easy. had to swap an adjuster after putting it all in of course, cuz someone had stripped it. but got them all adjusted and work great. no pics of them installed cuz it got dark.

i also got some EVO 8/9 lowering springs... Progress Suspension? whatever. suppose to lower the....EVO an inch or so... so im just going to swap the rears for now. might hack the fronts up a little to see if i can get it lower, or less hacked then my fronts currently are.

debating on weather its gonna snow or not... wanna get her ready for next spring. where im seriously gonna put her on the dyno. maybe/probably on E85 with some 1450cc injectors... also put some new tires on my 16s.... or if it snows? which would be awesome, ill pickup 2-4 snow tires for OEM wheels...

either way i need to upgrade/update this engine management to Ecmlink v3 w/GM MAF cable.

Hows it running?

like shit, thanks for asking.  :-\

pretty sure from talking and research that my problem is:
boost leak... (i havent gotten a full proper test done. i could only get 15psi before my tester was gay. fixed things, might be more)
maf/engine management.
no cold idle adjustment

boost leak test is pretty easy, just need the right tools. im gonna hit the hardware store up again to see what i can find, or just fuckin buy overpriced kit (thats hardware store shit).
on this note. it was also coming into boost funny. but i have been driving insta-spool EK for a couple weeks too.

i think the MAF is being gay. im told its cuz the engine management doesnt like it, it acts funny sometimes, blah blah.... its a fuckin GM MAF in a Mitsu. wtf you expect? ECMLink v3 has native support for GM MAF. 75bucks for a fuckin cable, and 200bucks to upgrade my hardware/software...oh, but i gotten take it out of my running car, and send it to them... gay... but oh yeah, i havent driven it anyway (should have done this 2weeks ago? lol)

oh and the fast idle valve fuckerthingy is blocked off...cuz well i block off or throw away extra shit all the time... so it doesnt like cold starts (idles solid when warm now tho). hopefully v3 upgrade above has IACV support... didnt seem to find it on my current version.

so between those 3 things, shit should iron out. if not. fuck me. i would love to burn the fucker to the ground. but i dont want to think how much i have spent on this car (8k+) so thats not gonna happen. probably just drop the fucker off at my DSM/EVO pro buddies house, tell him to fix it, tune it, lmk what it costs.

oh, and i probably should have bought an AEM box to start with. it has a page/table/settings for EVERYTHING.

the new 2.4L forged motor is sweet tho. solid ass runner. smooth. plenty of torque. doesnt piss oil.... its awesome.

took some pics of the lights installed....and the car.

oh yeah. i bought some Suspension Techniques lowering springs (for EVO8/9) like a couple months ago. finally installed them (just the rears, might cut the fronts up later). evened the car up.

For low speed this could be an issue for heat soak.

At Highway speeds I see no issue.

m of air = density of air * area of intercooler face* velocity of incoming air

m=p*a*v

m1 = m2 and p1 = p2 then area and velocities are what is need to change.

a1 * v1 = a2* v2

If a1 < a2 then v1 > v2

Where v2 is equal to an ideal speed at which you can transfer away from intercooler, usually less <70mph or 102ft/sec (if my memory serves me right) and varies a little on the intercooler design.

Also if the bumper is very tight against the intercooler, by the looks of it then than should help to force the oncoming through the intercooler and not around.  :noel:

it logs 75°…all he time. lol. its clamped or someshit. something stupid with the MAF setup.

I really don't want to cut out the grill. think it looks like shit when people do it... but I do wonder if you can cut out the black plastic blockers without it looking shitty?? don't think I have seen or maybe noticed anyone do that.
I have no problem hacking the hole center of the beam/absorber out tho.

actually. I'm gonna say its got decent flow.

there is 3.5" of intercooler there. then 4-5" air gap behind that before the useless AC condenser. then OEM style koyo radiator. that radiator will go from 200° at a stop to 176° with the quickness. and pinned its self there the hole drive to work this morning.

if thr radiator is getting that kind of temp drop, im gonna assume the intercooler 6-8" in front of that has good flow?

hey. should i spend more money on this thing? or is it looking good where its at?

couple ideas i got kickin around in my head:
BC coilovers ~$890   (it has EVO9 struts/shocks with cut 9 springs in front SuspensionTech springs in rear)
wheels? thinking Volk CE28's ~$1500 + tires (needs tires either way)
JDM bodywork... fine example (http://www.galantvr4.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Board=UBB10&Number=108936&page=0&fpart=1) ~500-1000 + paint... honestly, id only do this if i can find the shit local/jewish
EVO9 seats ~800

now im not saying i have the money to do all this, but i would liked to do all the above. really what would stop me is the thought that i have spent 10k on this fuckin car...

or maybe i should be spending money on my Civic and not the Galant? guess that sounds just as dumb...

true.

but it would look so much better with a JDM front bumper. and would probably cool better with JDM vented hood...

I'm not paying these inflated ass prices for these JDM parts tho. its like 500-700 each for hood/bumpers. so looking to get hookup from someone that gets containers from jdmland. 110 for new corner lights (probably buy those). and I need a not chrome grill cuz I hate it.

coilovers? going with k.i.s.s. I think on this one. shits fine that's on there I guess, hasn't caused any problems anyway.

I might do the seats? the leather couches are ok I guess. evo seats are nicer and hold you tho. but still need to find Jew deal. and make/find brackets.

I ordered a bunch of engine management stuff. hopefully have it here this weekend.

new 30/30 boost gauge (#3 btw). current one doesnt seem trustworthy lol.
oh and a valvecover gasket. gonna shave and/or paint my cover

hopefully get some tuning in this weekend...

ok, so i said FUCK THAT DSM/ECMLINK SHIT, last week or so... started looking for something else...

after some posts/texts/searching i found somethings.

$550 w/sensors... <~ehh, im too jew for that
$400 w/o sensors... <~ehh, almost jew enough (i have sensors)

wait...

ahh... $350 w/sensors... happy~> :Jew:

yup, bought myself an AEM EMS box..again.  for those that dont know/remember i had one in the CRX. so i have tuned on this before. and my good DSM/EVO buddy has tuned many before also. plan on getting this mostly dialed myself like the CRX, then finish it up with a pro, get dynoed, etc.

as you see it came with GM MAP (think its a 3bar) and IAT both with plugs... also came with some boost solenoids? idk. dont really care about those. thought he said it was coming with a harness, guess i misunderstood.
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi276.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fkk32%2Fefssuck2%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20131204_195516.jpg&hash=584f709bbb54a34e118fa40a17671ba06f01f056)
so i whipped up a speed density harness. its made to plug into the OEM MAF plug (power/ground/IAT) and timing jumper (map signal is there for AEM).

havent tested it cuz its fuckin cold as ballz outside. like my car was already frosted over at 6pm when i got home.

still havent decided if im going to use the 3 or 4 bar sensor. on pump ill probably be capping out at 25psi +/-... but if and probably when i fill this fucker full of some E85 and some 1450cc injectors ill probably be taking it to 35psi...
oh, on this turbo it looks like 25psi will get you ~450whp, 35psi is 550whp.... guess we will see  :noel:

hook me up man. im gonna need those im sure. i know i have said this many times, but im pretty sure this will be rockin E85 all spring/summer. unless the price/mileage just is stupid on it.

pinned my harness wrong lol... quick swap got results....

but it shows -13psi, and IAT of 127*...its 27* according to my ECT... so might need to look at something?

so that means?? IT FUCKIN CONNECTED  ;DDD ::)  did it instantly without fuss also. well other than AEM's redownloading of tune everytime, you get use to it. so yeah. coolant temp checked out (fuck its cold outside), and i rolled threw the throttle a couple times. felt good. gave the key a roll, but with the MAP showing -13psi its not gonna start, battery didnt seem happy...or maybe its the frozen 20w50 thats pissing off the starter?

the AEM box likes the 2g knock sensor better than the old ass 1g style. so fuckit. bought one from mitsu.

JD hooked me up with an EVO map that had the same/similar injectors, cams, turbo... so I hacked up my base with those numbers for fuel and a stroker 2.3 DSM for timing. hope/should work just fine. I need to put coolant in the car, which requires me remember to get some. then I'll give it a try.

I love this car.  Unsuspecting and dirty.   I wouldn't waste money on expensive wheels before you get the suspension where you want it.  Money saved on wheels could be spent on better tires like some r888's or rt615's or something nice.

thanks

so got a chance to fuck with her today. went to the basics. NO SPARK.... ok so grabbed stock ECU, threw it in. unplugged SD setup (so no MAP/MAF and 1000cc injectors) and has spark instantly, and trys to start.

threw a couple texts out there. doesnt look good... guy i bought it from points out that he was running a MSD ignition setup and not stock coils or something... so i layed my maps on another base with no luck, and just straight tried another, with no luck.

i needed to put new coolant in it (apparently old shit was getting slushy?!!?), so i just fired it off on the stock ECU + MAF-Translator aka "Horsepower in a Box"  :o :-X :-\ :?:   starts, then slowly goes full lean, but ran long enough to cycle the fan. not saying well enough to drive, but whatever.

not sure what the fuck im going to do.  :?: ???

havent given up yet.

i checked the jumpers in the box, they look to be in the right spots. got a couple more things i need to check. gonna read the users manual over again while im bored at work.

but i have no spark, pretty sure no fuel (dont remember smelling any) so the aem box isnt getting or doesnt think its getting a signal from the cam sensor... which i probably should have checked first  ::)

Dustin hits me up when he needs to.  He's a prick that won't introduce himself when you meet him in person, but he's not stupid and comes to me with specific questions after he has everything half answered on his end.  The weather is the only reason the car isn't featured in multiple ripper vids being whored across the internet right now.

maybe not the only reason. im also angry and exhausted of this shit.

I don't like to contact someone like JD straight off till I feel I have been intelligenent about my diagnosis. then I still know he is gonna say something that still makes me feel stupid...

and he did. STAT SYNC? I have never actually checked to see if the AEM even thinks the motor is spinning. I remember doing this on the CRX and thought it was stupid. cuz it just verified but didn't change/setup anything. but yeah its still important to check lol.

also said coil output test. haven't looked into this. think my problem lies with the above...

hope to make some actual progress here soon. sucks when i get home its already dark. then its been freezing or raining. killed the battery a couple times now too. ahh. fun.
if it isnt stat sync'ing i still need to figure out how to fix that.

so this morning...

STAT SYNC is ON... still no spark/fuel/run.. on AEM.

looked all over for the stock ECU to find it under the seat  ::)  pulled it in and fired right off. fucked with the MAF-Translator/Horsepower in a Box. (like an AFC with switches/knobs and converts to GM MAF)  got it to not idle dead lean (still like 16somethings, bouces around). hits 12s in mid'ish throttle, but upper RPM/higher boost seems to peg dead rich... whatever. it runs and drives, has passing power... just aint gonna win any races...

not giving up on the AEM. JD has offered to run my threw coil output test. i dont see anything online about it. maybe its called something else on the forums.

btw. i still own this...

i put new tags on it cuz they where like 2-3 months expired  ::)

been fucking with it the last couple nights. got a handful of vacuum leaks fixed. along with some other shit. including an exhaust leak. i zeroed the MAFT fucker back out to what a stock motor should be on 1000cc injectors. then started fucking with it. it idles SOLID now. no bounce. but idles real lean. keep bumping it up, but it seems to have topped out at like 16.5 AFR's at idle. so i drove it up to get a couple gallons of gas (almost empty on 3month old gas). didnt seem to run better with fresh gas. stalls when you lift after throttle (even with blow threw maf).

fuck.

oh and i started removing the AC system. shit didnt work. was missing some pieces? anyway got it discharged a while back. started removing the lines and shit the other night. need to pull the condenser and start planning cooling system mods.

front power steering rack seems to be bleeding fluid.

brake master cylinder is slowly leaking down the booster (have upgrade replacement)

probably needs brakes. at least gripper/new pads and rotor turn. along with parking brake adjustment?

still running on MAFT, needs to be running on....anything else. preferably the AEM box i have.

stereo system sucks ballz. needs completely redone.

needs tires.

shifter feels loose, need to take it apart and see wtf.

cooling system upgrade. aluminum radiator? maybe tucked into radiator support for more engine bay room. shrouded fan or 2, etc.

love how you guys say that. its issues all cars have. i sell those parts all the time for honda's. or in the case of the exhaust leak, probably something i caused...

plus it has sat for like 5+years of its life with a blown motor/people planning on a build that will never happen.

anyway. still love/hate... cant figure out what i want to do. kinda just want to run it on DSMLink. but i sold it cuz it sucked and wouldnt connect. kinda want to run it on AEM, but just dont want to put in the effort? (figure out why no spark/and tune) i just want it to run so i can drive it, and tune it better than its running right now. get it close to its potential.

biggest problem is that i refuse to spend anymore money on it without results.... can i get results without spending money? quite a conundrum?

then:  "over complicated" AEM? or "SLIDERBARZ!!!"

Fuck it, re pin it and run a honda ecu.

no shit. i was actually thinking about how i could play this out today when driving around in it.

but then thought it would be easier to remove whats left of DSM'ness and run AEM.... i dont like the throttle body/intake manifold setup anyway. run a sheet metal intake, billet/aftermarket/honda throttle body. coil on plug of not DSM parts (like LS1 coils? 300m?)....then i kinda feel like im spending too much money trying to remove shit that probably doesnt need fixed....

KISS??..... but that gets me back to sliderbarz  :-\

ok... so got together with my buddy and spent some time on the Galant...

in short:  got it running on AEM... but not mine... my AEM box is broken.

we did some tuning on the horsepower in a box (MAFT) and its whatever. temp anyway.

so we talked it out and came up with some plans:
ForcePerformace "race" manifold (i have burnt 2 couplers cuz my evo3 manifold is close)
i need a fuckin 11psi TiAL BOV spring. my bov likes to hang open.
SLIDERBARZ... cuz, KISS. i know i can tune it on AEM (if the box worked) and so can my buddy. but ecmlink is solid.
gonna continue to run GM blow threw with ecmlink control. (no more MAFT)
radiator. gonna try a thing or two. but Scirocco radiator is probably gonna happen.
ABS is gonna get tossed at some point.
4ws is gonna get tossed also. with a fresh DSM rack
4bolt LSD rear is gonna happen with the above
somewhere in that list is gonna be some gripper brake pads/rotor surface.

anyway. just thinking out loud here. gonna try to sell some junk and get started on this list.

work:

~shifter went from awesome to garbage... was a broken bushing, swapped with another i had, feels WAY better. almost all the slop is gone. might look for a better rebuild kit later down the road.
while i was in there i removed the rubber shifter base bushings and replaced them with stacks of washers, not my Jew idea, but i liked it, so i did it too.  :Jew:

~fan sucked, and would start to get hot in traffic... so i had 1 china 12" fan mounted directly to the radiator. shit sucked. so i hacked up a OEM Civic shrouded fan (fit super nice), rewired/relayed/etc the whole setup. mounted the 12" to the front as a pusher. (ill post pics below)

~gauges/radio.... so when i got the car the radio/console shit was all in a tote in the trunk. i assembled it but never really liked it. cut it a little for wideband install, threw a boost gauge in, threw a coolant gauge... just was looking shitty... scored a fresh (and different) OEM radio bezel from a 93 Galant. had a nice velvet/fuzzy pocket (cell phone friendly looking), and didnt look like shit.
moved all the gauges to the glove box, cuz i dont really like gauges, so i want them out of sight when not needed.

~Air Conditioning..... shit never actually worked. was missing a couple stupid pieces im sure i found have found. car has black leather, dont really like driving when its hot/sunny as shit anyway. so i removed it all.

~cruise control.... i removed this shit a while back. its an ugly ass system. pain in the ass to remove the cable, Honda's are WAY easier. but was worth it. pedal feels million times more responsive.

~AEM box.... still broken. but guy at work is good with electronics and shit, said he would take a look at it... if he fixes it, im probably going to run it. if not, im gonna continue fixing shit till i make up my mind on AEM vs Link.

COOLING SYSTEM UPDATE:
i fuckin hate people... its about 80 fuckin degrees out, i get stuck at a light for 2 cycles, then as the lights about to change... you guessed it A TRAIN!  ::)  so i drink another bottle of water (i had 3 16.9oz on hand, not stupid, heat/sun is not good for me), and watch the coolant temps 200-205* back and forth... 3G master cylinder. this one is bigger than the OEM. dont remember by how much. but was cheap. and mine was leaking...

forgot to take a pic of the brake lines... but i got both left and right front lines that go to the calipers. and 2 lines that do to the MC... oh and the proportioning valve.

total: $17.64 (lines/valve/DOT3) + way to much labor (i was in no hurry).... oh if you wanna count the 3G MC, i think that was $35 shipped?

Engine paint that orillys sells. LOW GLOBE black. Looks like factory paint. Not like flat, and not glossy like a mexi painted it. Get rid of the cruise control and that will help a lot.

Engine paint that orillys sells. LOW GLOBE black. Looks like factory paint. Not like flat, and not glossy like a mexi painted it. Get rid of the cruise control and that will help a lot.

i already removed the cruise control....

was thinking about a gray/blue/green color for the cover. oem is suppose to be wrinkle red, kinda like ITR.

Think it's a hi temp wheel paint. Like a graphite metallic color but super fine metal flake.

i still own this...  :-*  time for another weak ass update.

so i have been spending some money, acquiring parts, etc... i still have more pending, on the way...

i got semi screwed on some parts. but the shit i did get was a good enough deal that i figured it was gonna happen.

quick list:
4bolt LSD rear end, axles, etc (i have weaker 3bolt, open diff)
i have rear 5lug (got screwed on fronts)
ECMLink v3 is on the way
new "updated" style lifters
think there was other shit too.

pending:
front 5lug
evo wheels
evo seats

still not sure how i want to fix the steering rack situation.... anyone rebuilt a PS rack before? kinda want to just pull the drivers tie rod assy, and pop out the toasted seal, slide in the new one...
other plan would be to swap in DSM rack, but i dont want it to effect my turning radius, and its kinda a bitch to pull the rack...

no pics cuz i have done any of this, been busy and dont want to tear all this shit down, and it be down for months...

5lug front hubs
new bearings and inner/outer seals
freshly turned 5lug rear rotors
Posi-Quiet rear pads
couple of oil filters from Mitsu cuz i had them on the phone.

i also tried cleaning up the rear diff...isnt show quality shiny, just less dirty.

so i need to order some fresh oils for tcase/diff/trans... (engine only has 1000miles on its oil) i got some washers at work to seal those up. and waiting on my coilovers, and buddy to get some tires for his EVO so i can steal his wheels...

I don't want to fuck the finish up on the wheels. I don't like refinished (rattle can, dipped, powder, etc) OEM wheels. so I need to preserve the finish on them.

id the finish is anything like my evo 2 and 3 wheels the carb cleaner wont hurt. they were a factory powder coat type of finish tho. aircraft stripper was the only thing i found that hurt the finish.

rear is all finished up... 3bolt out, 4WS shit out (annoying), 4lug out (bitch), 4bolt LSD swapped in, 5lug in, fresh brakes, coilovers in, un-ghettofied EVO8 Enkei's...

i tore into the front pretty good before giving up for the night. probably gonna bribe someone at work to swap bearings/hubs for me.... still need to pull the 4WS front rack. then put it all back together again...shit.

ok, front went ok. did get in a little fight with the steering rack coupler. and a HUGE fight with some wheel studs. threads must have been fubar'ed from when the hubs where pulled?? or just to begin with (couple have M's stamped in them). so i antisiezed them and ran some spare random lug nuts (look like steel honda hub cap style) down all them to make sure the threads where good and that they where fully seated in the hubs. ran to the junkyard (yup, it was closer) and snagged up a few and a power steering tank that i now need a cap for.  :banghead:

didnt take any pics of my working, i was too busy working. lol. maybe ill remember to take a couple pics tomorrow when i pull the wheel off one more time.

so i need to:
put shockproof in t-case
drain diff? fill with shockproof
need 1 axle cotter pin
2 tie rod cotter pins
gear oil pump
power steering cap
tighten axle nuts
bed in brakes
go get alignment

thanks. that was the plan. it is probably a little lower than i imagined, but its got more ground clearance with this wheel/tire setup also. think this has turned out great.

i got her full of vital fluids. went to the JY and snagged a couple cool items, most importantly a PS cap and filter. took her for a little spin around the block, bed the pads in, seems good to go. gonna head up to get her aligned. maybe a wash, take some fresh pics.

steering wheel is WAY the fuck off. lol. like 90* out. sure the alignment guy will love that.

i spent a lot of money and time....and i dont care, car drives awesome  ;DDD all the issues i have had seem to be gone. got the car aligned. front has -1.8 camber rear was like -2.6. i have a little bit of bounce in the front suspension, think im going to give a couple clicks firmer into the coilovers, but other than that they are awesome. brakes feel good. car looks good if i dont say so myself, and others seem to dig it.

im happy right now   :D ;DDD :noel:

once that wears off i do have a big turbo to put on.

ok, so i drove her to work today (~50miles round trip, city/freeway/traffic) and she did great. stupid CEL was going crazy with some what i assume is false knock from my shit lifters. but other than that was doing ok.
buddy hit me back and said to swing by after work to do a quick flat rate tune on her. took one look at the MAFT, double checked it was plugged in and wondered off, came back with a ecmlink gm maf harness. he went threw all the settings and i was trying to keep up and understand what was going on. fired right off. went out and did some driving and was pretty spot on. did some roll ins to boost, quick adjusts. tried some pulls but the lifters are fubar. they just need replaced. did manage to get some pulls in.

so...
-gonna need to swap to speed density obviously
-lifters goes without saying?
-he suggested cams. said not needed (i have FP2's), but knows someone with some FP4s maybe. and will make way more power. so, yeah.
-SMIM and probably throttle body (wtb: magnus/jmf intake)
-CLUTCH! lol. yeah. did a nice pull in 2nd, into 3rd and jumped some rpm it seemed, then again towards top of 3rd on another pull. (wtb: twin disc and 2g accumulator)
-solid front motor mount. i dont like the movement the engine has.
-what else is my car missing? lol. seems like i have bought everything...

i dont care... still fuckin excited.  :Jew:

lol, just noticed i said i would take pics of the Galant...i didnt.

so a lame ass update. but i feel good about what was done, and thats what counts. couple little things bothering me that i can check off the list...still a couple more.

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq608%2Fturbohf3%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20150310_180152_zpsuwqjc1of.jpg&hash=9d99e47db69a546a78a69b713540b28e3559f0cb)
4WS sticker... i dont have 4WS shit anymore...

GONE!!!

those caps on the back deck are bothering me too... need to replace/paint/something

didnt even bother to take a pic of this thing on the car. obviously it needed cleaned. but it is also just an ill fitting piece of shit 1g DSM shift boot. the Galant one was 80's accordion style  :o

so i needed something actually new/not shitty looking, that hopefully fit better...

im a fan of the black with red stitched scheme (from my ITR days). and this was cheap as shit on ebay...or amazon. dont remember. like 8bucks though.

i always joked about this...

Spoon Sports/MOMO steering wheel  :P  mounted on a short hub with quick release. i bought this shortly after i got my Integra because i was pissed i left my last one in the CRX, oh and it was a screaming deal. so i put it in the integra. im currently parting that car down so i put it in beater Civic, but why? i like my Galant more, love the steering wheel, and why not? im sure some Honda guys are gonna hate, but i dont care, they annoy me anyway.  :-*

i also fixed my wideband ground. and also put in that new phone mount im sure you can see. wanted my phone in a legit spot to quickly change music...
thats all for now i think.

im loving it. i havent driven my Civic since i got the Galant aligned. gotta say that at first i was not impressed by the BC coilovers. they where bouncy and pissing me off. ride was firm and seems to corner tight. so i have been twisting some knobs on the coilovers. BC instructions said they are factory set to be nice or whatever. i started by giving them 2 clicks all around. then i think i did another full round at 2 clicks. then the fronts another for good measure. pretty good now. i have had the same work commute for years, and several suspension kits of different cars. hate to admit it but probably liked the Tien RE's on my ITR best, liked my Cusco's i had on several cars (but seemed firmer than Tien's). i have a particular stretch of road that is pretty much junk. its a bridge with lots of expansion joints. think the ITR was the only one that could do 70+ without fear of spinal damage lol. the Galant is good to 70.
not tring to compare BC's to Tien RE/Cusco Zero-2's, but for the money they seem to be doing good for me so far.

anyway, im waiting on money and decisions before buying or doing anything else. i do have a decent list of items coming up.
pretty sure im going to be swapping to FP4 cams.... they are meant for a 2.3/2.4 car, vs the FP2's i have that are for a 2.0
havent decided on an intake yet. i did some messaging with JMF... but still not sure if i want a street or race manifold, or a Magnus?
im still planning on throwing the T4 setup on. want to test it and make sure i like the spool/delivery of power.

shit. so radiator sprung a leak...again. probably could just fix it again. but it is looking pretty sorry. needs to be replaced before i get left stranded.

spent last couple hours looking for radiators. really just looks like the VW style one is gonna be what im looking for.

http://m.ebay.com/itm/121393555400?_mwBanner=1 (http://m.ebay.com/itm/121393555400?_mwBanner=1) <~is that thing going to be enough? or i really need an AFCO? waiting to hear back on a used one, but he already has told me no on a couple occasions lol.

setup should give me all the room in the world for the T67 setup. we did do some measuring and THINK i should be ok as far as the stock (or is it a DSM?) radiator. but i really dont think my fan will clear the compressor inlet, let alone a tube and filter. and i think that the wastegate/dump will interfere on the drivers side.

Just pulling this out of my ass, but I'd guess if it's sized for a 1.8 liter engine from the factory, as long as you have decent airflow to it I'd think you'd be fine? I'd throw it in there...  :mexi:

well i just fixed it for now... i should have taken pics...but at the same time, i shouldnt have lol. i really wanna say i have patched this 4-5 times from looking at it. but dont remember doing it that many times. think the wastegate hit it enough times to spring a leak on 2 occasions. it has rubbed threw a fin x2 forsure on the passenger side, and looks like once on the drivers. i soldered it up. get it hot enough long enough with the weller, and it sticks...  O0 :mexi: :Jew:

i think its the same radiator for the 1.8-2.0-2.4 galants. dont remember seeing a larger/smaller one in any junkyard cars.

anyway. my car now even with the giant Spearco 2-216 core intercooler will drop to the thermostat/176* on the freeway in anything lower than 80* outside. anything 25mph and lower she will hang in the high 190-200 range. she does NOT like to idle for long. if shit is working tho, the current fan keeps it in check. but it will shoot up to 205 in just a couple mins even when i just get off the freeway.

im hoping moving it forward and more of a fan shroud will keep it from head soaking. plus better fans... ill post more on that as i get that far.

i plan on fitting the T67 here soon. then ill see forsure how much space i have. go from there....

i have a buddy that will come over sometimes, think he envys me just some. not even sure he can remember those days anymore. he will look at something and be like "that shit wouldnt fly at my house"... and the stacks of useful parts that are worth money, but i have cut most all that down now, but it use to be bad.

but some here may think im baller, ok. but i still have couple friends building cars that have cooler shit than whats on my car on there parts shelves as spares/old projects with cooler shit on there cars. actually the T67 thats going on my car was the spare parts that my buddy decided to just build into a car cuz he had the shit laying around. its the stuff off the 4g63t Hyundai.

OIL CHANGE...  :o  thats right, i drove my car enough miles to require changing some oil LOL.

yup, maybe the worst build thread update.... maybe.  :-*

oh and...

i bought a bike carrier. was trying to get a roof rack to be a trendy guy, but didnt work out. so picked this up. works well. yes i did think about putting it on the Civic, but then i might have to ride my ass all the way home at some point.   ::)

and actually, i think i paid more for the bike and carrier than i did for the Civic originally lol.

thats about it.... oh something i didnt post here. buddy scored me a fresh set of cams... maybe we will throw them in with some new lifters that i have sitting here at some point... i should paint my spare valvecover...

i fixed (or broke) that on the Galant. it seems to only use about whats left over of the 5th qt there (about .8) over the 3k... depending on how much the valve cover gasket leaks.

the civic is on that system though....well except the changing the filter part...  :-*

i bought need cams for her. ForcedPerformace "FP4" cams. they are like the FP2's i have now i guess. but they are designed around the stroker 2.3/2.4 motors vs the stock 2.0's... so low revers vs high reving.

oh also swapped out my problematic ass lifters.

got the new valve cover on... not sure i like 100% the color and how it came out. might redo it again later. or may be lazy and leave it.

ok. so not like same as the old cams, but bigger and better for my setup...  ::)
old cams liked to pull little over 20"... these seem happy at 15"

maybe ill take a video to get the sound of the lope.  ;DDD

so far its a million times better. seems way more driveable, no more knock nanny shutting down my fun.... BUT. seems super apparent with 2 people in the car that the 2600 just doesnt have the clamp it use to. its gonna need replaced. it doesnt seem to be smoking out, but it just isnt going. also on the same note, top end is in need of an intake manifold replacement.

twin disc?
SMIM
T67
Brembo calipers

its just money, right?

i have about 2" from radiator support to the turbo. think i will have enough room once radiator is tucked and fans are on...i hope... wastegate tube is still touching dipstick tube, needs a little more massaging, and the wastegate VBand clamp was touching the PS pump on test fits. so plan was to just hit the clamp with grinder real quick. but i think i will try a shorter belt on the pump first.

thats about it for now. i took a good long stare at her, getting plans. oh and i re studded the head so the turbo manifold has something to bolt to... waiting on radiator and fans. need to make oil drain which might be a bitch as it points at the motor mount, and see how close the down pipe that came with it fits. im sure a 4G63 swapped Hyundai and a Galant use the same downpipe right? LOL.

hope she runs before it snows...  ::)

radiator i ordered. its the cheaper (than an AFCO) aluminum one i found on ebay. about $135. MK1 Golf/Scirroco fitment. looks decent. has nipple for steam port if you have an LS1 lol. also has spot for fan switch.

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq608%2Fturbohf3%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20150916_190316_zpsndllkwf0.jpg&hash=e388ddc880dbf939083f46fa214a0472eaf82637)
yeah, not a chance in fuck both fans fitting. oh well. this car doesnt have AC anymore so when its 80+ i probably wont be driving it anymore. same goes with cheaping out on the radiator. BUT i will be building a shroud for the single fan.

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq608%2Fturbohf3%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20150916_190332_zpsdqbgsugx.jpg&hash=b03437de891a072c3c1306b5c63e20e2fea05586)
this is the fan switch i picked. comes on at like 192-195* and has gasket with it. was $8bucks or so. i liked this one over the others i found because it has that plastic crap in the middle to hopefully protect the terminals from getting broken off if i bump it lol.

i did some more poking around and staring. lower hose will work great, oddly i need to trim 2inch off. but the upper is about 3" too short. will need to see what i can find tomorrow at parts store. fan should clear the turbo even on a shroud without issue.

I'm using that exact type and material radiator on twincharge civic reboot, tucks in the radiator support perfect. :)

No finish putting it back together, cleaning up the engine bay welding up holes, repaint the bay first then put everything back in.

so this is the turbohf china aluminum Scirocco/MK2/whatever radiator install.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/261763767683?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (http://www.ebay.com/itm/261763767683?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) <~ thats what i bought and im installing here.

i did a fair amount of test fitting and beating/bending of the PS 'cooler' lines. was trying to push the radiator as far into the core support as possible.
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq608%2Fturbohf3%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20150920_134147_zpszxi5c0jl.jpg&hash=601e0ef94861a84d59319845336851f854ae7c3b)
i drilled some holes right into the core support.

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq608%2Fturbohf3%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20150920_134201_zpszq7xijrn.jpg&hash=a505a715773f3208546fda994f3d6b5abf46fe88)
i used these grommets that i cut down to poke into the core support. not sure what the hell these actually go to? maybe an air box resonator from integra? AC condenser from Galant? or mounting grommets from cruise control box? all possibilities or good places for you to look for yours lol.

it was a fair amount of work to get this far. lots of trimming and cutting a big ass hole in sheet metal. its all mounted on low density foam to seal it all up. really happy how this truned out, and how simple it turned out. my plans in my head where all over the place from super ghetto to overly complex welding/bending.etc.

that is an unmodified upper radiator hose from '92 Eclipse turbo' that i got from O'reilly's. lower one is...well i dont know. i replaced it with something, but i remember it was a bitch finding one i liked. probably Eclipse one also. anyway i cut about 2" out of it oddly enough (original upper was 3" too short)

oh, i also made a little tab on the front side that goes from the back of the headlight (bolt/stud sticking out) to the front of radiator.

now thats it all done and in the car...i want to pull it back out and paint the radiator black lol. probably should have done that first. oh well not that big of a deal.

I think it will be adequate. but guy on Galant forum is warning that the fan is junk and shroud doesn't promote good airflow. thinks it will have issue.
he was suggesting a spal fan mounted directly to the core... seems that would cause issues as well. idk. we will see.

I might put some effort into directing air towards the core also.

oil line was bothering me. mainly because i need one and need to figure it out. the turbo oil drain is SUPER close to the front motor mount. like the AN fitting that was on there would hit when test fitting. thought after putting my new shit on i was screwed and was going to have a crazy S shaped drain, but came out nice and straight i think, glad i went with 2 90's.

no shot on the car. maybe ill remember later. but this is the drain parts. i got this hose at Napa. i have used it before on the CRX with the 14b, and the oil FP Red that just came off the Galant. seems to work great, so ill use it again.
short piece is to show the part number if anyone else wants to find it.

maybe ill try a downpipe in the next couple days...  ::)

cam gears need to be x2 the crank gear.... why didnt they run a smaller crank gear like a honda? idk. maybe they think cam gears are sexy?

it runs cool on the road actually, as long as its below 80*. it will go down to the thermostat just fine. problem she has is heat soak. with the setup on it before i just took it apart it would shoot to 200* pretty quick. fans would keep it there. but you shut it off and it would soak to 220-230... car REALLY needs some speed holes in the hood. next year i will get RHMT on it if this always doomed CF JDM vented hood thing fails over on the Galant forum.

with this new setup, who the fuck knows. im sure it will run warmer.

I have had the uber bad luck of working at a shop that does a lot of DSM work.  Build a couple 4g's in the last few months.

These things always cook the engine bays I find, its crazy how hot they run.  Maybe just a lack of air flow, idk.  Rebuilding the trannys is hilarious compared to Hondas, such a PITA driving out the roll pins and shit that keep it all together.

Not terrible cars though for what they are.  Just a shit show to work on.

Replaced a crank on a 6 bolt, IN CAR.  Beleeeee dat.  O0

ok. so i guess i only get about an hour of light when i get home now. but thats ok really, as i have a bunch of small tasks to do, rather than large ones.

i finished off the wiring on the new radiator setup yesterday. just had to swap and lengthen connectors. zip tie everything in its place. etc. i should throw the grill back in and decide on weather the radiator needs painted or not... other than paint i think its 100% squared away.

dipstick its wastegate elbow, and wastegate clamp hits power steering pump:

dipstick was easy. if you have never done one slide a 12-17mm wrench down the tube, then push/lean on it. careful not to pinch the top too much. a little bit will hold the dipstick in if there is some backpressure  ;)

power steering:

its oh so close, but way far away now. lol. i just went to the autoparts store in search of shorter belt. grabbed a couple, but it looks like i settled on the belt they listed...mine must be stretched, or labeled wrong, not oem. alternator belt is though.

with those huge victories i went inside and called it a night....

.... ok i was on a roll. so took a pie cut out of the dumptube and it looks like it will clear the crossmember and point right at the downpipe. works for me. didnt want it pointing at the wiring harness, or the oil filter, or sure as hell not the alternator, or the oil drain.... maybe ill wrap the oil drain in aluminum foil or something??

chop saw was out, and if im pissing off the neighbors i might as well drop a couple more cuts.

cool part about this is obviously half of it is the previous chargepipe. and this came out of my scrap bin. and it actually eliminates a 2.5" straight coupler i had in there before (going to weld the two together) and i can now use that on the turbo as it went from 2" to 2.5"  :Jew:

i will most likely be header wrapping that pipe. it got hot as shit before with the Red on there, and i wanted to wrap it then too.

note, order some shit:
4" K&N
4" 45* coupler
O2 bungs
header wrap

way too much work.  ::)  good quick tip though.... might be a little to  O0 for this project. lol.

i like the standard round O2 bungs. found a couple 4-5packs on ebay. think im going to buy one of them. nice to have on hand. and for little more than the price of one at shop down the street.

i did find some rounded off ones that sit nice and flat on exhaust pipe, but not feeling like that big of a spender. i have used a stepped one before too. was nice. makes sure the hole is big enough for the bigger wideband o2. i have used a nut also, hated that. modifying something thats just a simple part for cheap seems dumb to me.

besides i need to order header wrap. cant put it on the downpipe till i get the o2 in. and not putting the turbo in for final until all that is done... project isnt waiting on an o2, its waiting on me to not want a incomplete project  ::)

couple parts. got some header wrap too, but it showed up late cuz the seller was an asshat and mislabeled the shipping they use. actually same with the O2 bungs.

i just have put my welder away like 3 times today. welded up pipes, then put away. shit, O2... shit, i need to bead the end of my pipes...  ::)

did some test fitting of this giant ass K&N filter. yeah. i had to modify my upper pipe to move the bov towards the throttle body some, give it a turn, etc. i think i have barely enough room now.
no pics of that because i forgot about it after i hung it up to dry after repainting...

my list of things to do is really getting small i do think.... i think because i didnt actually make a list like i should have... ::)

i do need a small ass chunk of 4" pipe to connect filter to coupler elbow. any ideas to locally acquire something like this?

funny. that looks all nice and good right? it actually fit all together better on the final assembly than it did on my test fits, but thats a win i will take as it doesnt seem to ever work out like that.

thats all, feeling lazy today. victories have been had, going to call it while im at a win, and take a nap.

oh yeah. so I did work on this some over the weekend.

I took it back apart some. yeah in know. but I didn't like some shit. now if fits even better, and I'm happy. then final assembled some more shit. i assembed the oil return. put the downpipe on. think I have some hearing damage from using my impact under the car. seriously. I have a low beeping tone in my ear when I plug it. fuck.
anyway. little over 3k miles on my oil plus sitting for a couple months now. so I decided now is the time to see how much of a bitch it is to get the filter off with new turbo... not bad actually. has less room than before but not too bad. helps that I don't have an oil cooler.

so I was looking down the exhaust at this point and I figured out I hate my entire exhaust system.
downpipe is garbage and hangs too low.
hate the bolted flange (I may be deaf now)
resonator sometimes hits driveshaft carrier
exhaust sometimes hits diff
muffler sits funny + needs tip... but want dual tips now.

so I want new v-banded up exhaust system build by someone who knows what they are doing and cares. nice Magnaflow resonator, would like a dual tip Magnaflow muffler but I'm not finding one in 3"?

anyone know a good legit shop in the PNW that can make me my new exhaust? obvouisly I'm picky about how this is going to turn out.

note: for christmas i need a fuckin jump box.

so i put some fresh coolant in her...and its leaking. i realign and tighten lower hose. continue... its leaking from other side, you know the coolant sensor i cant reach now. so i tighten that some. seems like its ok. i top her off.
i go to start, click, click, buzz... yup, just enough to turn some lights on, but not to turn over. figures. so i jump off with the truck. took some cranks? but ran with a giant ass squeak from belts or alternator (cant reach that either). runs for a couple mins till it stalls. whatever. couple drips of oil from middle of car, but it was leaking from that area to begin with. and more coolant from the sensor i can barely reach, and now everything around is hot as fuck.

success!

I own an Eclipse Gt and what I can say is Honda > Mitshitbishit.

I also got coolant issue because of their very nice o-ring design. I got coolant leaking from 2 places even with new o-ring and silicon.

issue with the coolant is the junk china radiator.

sure the oil is some maintenance issue, or its just pissing oil for no reason...

oh yeah. so i took her out last weekend for a little drive...

coolant switch doesnt fuckin work. so i just jumpered it. seemed driving around it would stick below 200 or so. then randomly would go down to 180 or so.... yeah i know im sure its not random, just dont recall the conditions at which the temp would fall.

still pissing oil. probably good, cause i didnt actually do anything besides blow it off with some brake cleaner...

downpipe is still too low.

drove over to buddies place while out shaking her down. he wanted to see it and go for a ride. spools up to some good power damn quick. you wouldnt think a turbo this fuckin large could do something like that. guess it is a large motor also. anyway we where hitting like 12psi? or so... on a "16psi" spring, china... anyway of course would not do. cranked it up some, made a pull, cranked it some more, made a pull. was like 16psi then sputtered mildly, but stopped revs. just blowing out spark.

so we went and got some plugs. know idea how many miles i actually have on them but probably 9-12months? anyway i had to leave after throwing in some new plugs. some BR8ES if i remember right, gapped down to 19 or so. she seems fine now. didnt notice how much boost though, really havent been paying attention. but the AFR's will need some work LOL.. like 10.0's blowing some black smoke rich....

current 'finished' pic...

still more work to be done.

my attempt at keeping everything clean, first time with helicoils also. think the total count was 2.5 stripped holes. one probably was fine with enough thread, but i was fixing them so i did it anyway before i had to take it apart again. one had maybe a thread holding on (swapped in a longer bolt before) and one bolt was just sitting there for cosmetic sake it seems. now im going to say this is just from old age and abuse from previous owners, but you probably wont believe me, and i dont care. so moving on.

good time to replace that valve cover right? well i cant ever make up my mind on, well most anything. so it showed up last minute of course.

got this off the galantvr4.org forum. i hate the color red. so its not going on yet. but i like this cover. no cracks it seems (common problem from people over torquing) or broken cover bolt holes. i like the Mitsubishi/DOHC/16valve. vs the DOHC/2000 DSM cover on my engine (engine in my car when i got it was out of a 91 Laser), my engine isnt even a 2000cc, its a 2.4 now.

anyway, i want to put this cover threw the parts washer at work, strip the paint, and repaint it... just not sure what color i want. im thinking gloss black?

Gloss black, once it fully dries I would hit all the letters and raised areas with a file and then clear the whole thing.

sexy :P

no pic on the car as of course it was dark when i was finished and never bothered to take another pic... also installed with brand new gasket kit, Hondabond on corners over the cam caps, etc. fired it off and looked legit with no leaks!!!!  :-*

then it started idle hunting and pissing me the hell off.

plugged the laptop in...umm that say 11.1v?? fuck. volt meter shows 8.48v on battery... so figured that she had finally went TU.... retards at parts store charged her up, they claimed. showed 12.4v so whatever.... fires off fine, then idle hunts again! figures. and its a bitch to get to. but turns out easier with my new turbo/radiator setup. poked it with volt meter before pulling, still 11.5v or so.
took it to retard parts store, where it took like 20mins for him to test it... yeah i will keep calling them retarded.

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq608%2Fturbohf3%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20151128_124646_zpsonq7phfc.jpg&hash=edf1584b491a5a5a0b66d81f282eb5682dc5177d)
pic sucks.

so lets count the reasons why this may of took a shit on me?
downpipe/turbo heats the shit out of it?
maybe the fact its soaked in oil?
then i soak it in brake cleaner? lol
or maybe that its some random junkyard probably 75amp (suppose to be 90amp i guess) alternator i found sitting in engine bay of DSM. it did have OEM Mitsubishi Reman tag on it though.
oh and its a bitch to get to, and to find one, and would piss me off...

so i took it apart

oh, thats probably the reason? brushes are toast. and one was kinda stuck in bore (no springyness to it)

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq608%2Fturbohf3%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20151203_184636_zpsfhl96cmj.jpg&hash=4dd53791df6338989930f9e3a1c2bc81d8d32df4)
mostly cleaned up and ready to go??

NOPE. back to retard parts store for test...and then the smoke came out. and as im sure you know once it comes out, it doesnt go back in... or it was just toast anyway and smoked up from parts cleaner and shit. whatever

bought a brand new (non-reman) unit, should be here next week or 2.

i can not begin to explain the level of hate and frustration i have right now.

this alternator doesnt fuckin fit. i ordered it off amazon. it took 3 days+ to ship, then 7+ for UPS to deliver the fuckin thing. by then i just waited for the weekend so i didnt have to install in the cold/wet/dark. and the fuckin thing doesnt even fit. the mouting ears are like 1/2" to narrow.

i think? i filed a claim on amazon. they just sent me a fuckin return label. so i can pay to return the part that doesnt fit?? and wait a week to get back to them?? so they can give me a refund i DONT WANT. i want my working fuckin alternator i paid for 2weeks ago.... oh im sure they will offer to send me a new one? if someone actually would answer a phone or call me back in a couple MORE days. have to wait another week, and HOPE its actually going to fit...

paid for Dec 4th
shipped Dec 8th
delivered Dec 15th

i got some hate right now.

i have researched this as i do most my items i purchase. autozone or most any of the parts store remans are junk. several posts on the VR4 forum about it. some guys making it 3months, some replacing 3 in 3 months. its not the easiest thing to replace, and like i said for whatever reason mine didnt even throw the battery/charge light on this time. so it could definitely leave me stranded if it did the same again.

seems this mitsubishi alternators dont take well to aftermarket shops hack reman procedures. one in my car for the past 4 years was a used factory reman. figure it had a long life. but they are no longer available, i called, he said none even in the country showing at a dealer still.

talked to buddy about it (that also worked a parts store forever) and he said dont buy a reman, from 1st hand experience. he searched till he found a NEW unit and bought 2 of them. he runs the Galant one on his DSM;s.

anyway. filed a return claim thing. and also emailed them about the issue. will probably waste my lunch on monday buy calling them on it also.

yeah. times are changing lol. the LSX is solid platform. shit at 225k with what i hope is a just a lifter tick i have no problems jumping in and mobbing off to wherever. check the oil once a month or so for giggles.

i would love to comment that my mitsu is reliable, cuz i do feel it is, but i did buy the truck as i thought it was stock and therefor more reliable...or at least less finicky. and true so far.

but the truck doesnt do so well in the rain (junk tires im sure mostly problem), so im assuming in the snow complete garbage. and really i would just love to drive my Galant again. i hate seeing her sit.

looks like i have a dialog started via email with alternator shop. trying to send pics.

I know its so simple, yet so difficult at the same time...

brand new alternator tuned into a cluster fuck. in which the amazon retailer will take no responsibility for, fucks. ad discription and interchange part numbers are what I need, alternator shipped was for a different application. they made ME pay shipping back, and charged me a restock. so I'm out 60bucks for their mistake?!??!
so a big fuck you to: rareelectrical and amazon.com. (amazon has yet to do anything but 'forward my concern')

went to buddies house, dug around. ended up swiping a random used Mitsubishi alternator from his place. went and tested it at parts store. it would pass one time fail the next. was showing just on the max volts threshold. ehh, works for me.

installed, tested, everything seems good after a rip around the block and resetting my idle.

for sale, $12,500... contact me for further info.... kinda thinking I'm possibility serious...

YES, I DO STILL OWN THIS.... it just fuckin sits there...

week, or 2 ago i moved the galant to in front of the garage to look at it. once i could see it it was sorry looking. damn near growing moss. LOTS of pollen on it. shit is like concrete. i had been trying to drive it at least once a weekend. but its back to or still leaking oil, had been noticing some coolant missing, but it always seemed to disapear some. anyway gave her a good simple green scrub down on the outside and quick wash, missed a spot. close enough for someone that rarely washes his cars.

i jack it up. hose her down with brake clean. notice that the driveway spot seems to have moved? clean/dry off. fire her off on the jack.  ::)  and look for leaks. just a little seep at the oil drain, figured it was worse? start looking at timing cover side. fuck its dripping. oil is fresh. but notice quickly that its not oil. about the time i realize its coolant, its damn near pissing a steady drip. then i look over at oil filter housing, oh its leaking oil from there... sweet.

so water pump means you just replace the timing belt too. while its NOT driven off the timing belt, the pump is BEHIND the tensioner and its pulley. fucks. along with not one, but TWO pulleys being bolted to it. makes this a fun job.
not really that hard i guess when considering transverse mounted engine timing belt jobs. but i just hate this water pump/pulley situation.

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq608%2Fturbohf3%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20160330_183738_zpschjbjbj7.jpg&hash=7994a2cd0ac1e4604c17dc39ab1d58296a4b6d7b)
Galant forum said buy the AISIN its the "oem brand"... cool. same one thats on the car now. and its leaking.
Galant forum said buy a Gates belt. so i did... helped that they had part numbers posted, and i just bought the cheapest ones i could find. like 25 for belt, 36 for pump?

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq608%2Fturbohf3%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20160331_192809_zpsf4yd6u3i.jpg&hash=39f245f67585c0d78d157886babcde694cbc85af)

new water pipe oring, new gasket on cleaned up surface + hondabond (nice seal, more that it holds the gasket).
btw. little helpful tip from buddy Bryan, jack the motor up a little, and you slide the pump out through the motor mount pocket. win.

i smothered the oil drain in Hondabond also if you were doubting that i would. also replaced bolt that was just fuckin missing out of the oil filter housing, and torqued the shit out of all the bolts i could see on the front of the motor.

maybe tomorrow...or next week... ill throw the timing belt on, probably have bryan check it, then drive it a couple days to see it still leaks oil, but not coolant. then it sits again... fun times.

i got this all back together, once the ignition module was plugged back in, and the jump box (aka jumpers on nova battery lol) it fired right off. runs mint. should, it ran before lol. once the coolant got bled the idle settled out. took it for a drive, everything seems great. battery once again stone dead this morning, bonehead move on my part with map light  ::)  stopped for gas and started fine but it did seem to mark its territory LOL. so fuck.

so sitrep:
no more coolant leak.
fresh timing belt.
fixed most the oil leak lol  (still seems to be oil drain area)
with fan 100% on, and 65* outside putting around it wants to be 200-205*. so fuck.
one of my pulls after getting gas i thought i felt the clutch slip, did another after and didnt notice it.
still needs tune...bad. its super rich 75-100% throttle.

needs:
expensive high cfm fan...not cheap china fan that claims cfm.
tune
brake lines
clutch
motivation.

so look for an update in 3-6months when it really needs a clutch, and motivation....

ok so tomorrow it is suppose to hit 80*, thats gonna suck, means i will drive the truck. not because i didnt finish, but it has AC.

anyway. so cooling... been driving this around and noticed that if i dont have the fan on it sometimes maintains its temp while moving. if its below like 65 outside.

idea is and was before i ever started it with this setup, that the fan/shroud i have sucks and is blocking airflow. then once the fan is on (at low speeds, as i believe at speed with it on it is also blocking air flow) it really doesnt have the CFM to keep up.

so i bought:

yes. a Flex-a-Lite 365... a $225 fan to put on my $120 radiator?...

it fit my replacement china aluminum radiator i bought on ebay even though it says its for a Scirroco radiator that i have? no. not really. but even looking at it that really isnt a surprise. but i made it fit champ. zip ties and foam shit.

now its dark. mosquito, etc.

i did whip up the wire real quick. and poked it into the car to verify it fits. and well shit. even after my measurements and all.... well it fits better than i expected. hell, probably better than the other one did.
also threw some fire to it. damn thing sounds like a vacuum cleaner firing off. so yeah, moves some air.

also, after some searching i might be able to fire this thing off with the ECU. see how that goes. would be nice.

not sure how well that last one looks. but it took some finagling to get it that good. the intake coupler actually goes slightly into the fan motor recess. its close.

phone claims its 64* outside. with the motor at 200* it took 1min 24sec to drop it to 180*. say thats good?

While I was kidding, I did almost burn down my old turbo BMW with shit touching the downpipe and flaring up, so its a legit thing to take care of - even if you ducttape aluminum foil around the leak to route it to the ground like I do now.

oh good, it rotated the picture for me...when it didnt need to...
anyway. stainless brake lines, with a plastic cover over the braid, which is a very nice touch. more so because i zip tie my brake lines to shit...  :mexi:  oh and a Speed Density harness from ECMLink, to replace my borrowed (probably stolen at this point) native GM MAF harness i have now.

why?
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1166.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq608%2Fturbohf3%2FGVR4%2FIMG_20160509_161240_zpsbcmusrwz.jpg&hash=d7de95fd98a5ddc5b659e5a8e0fe721a04feb9aa)
maybe i just like buying fancy shit i dont really need?  :-*

the SD harness will wait for another day. a day closer to when im actually ready to do some tuning. there is a 4bar MAP and a GM IAT around here somewhere too for this.

and yes. i did order other parts. still on boat/plane/seaturtle from China, and waiting on retailer to contact me on other part...

PS:  yes, the Nova is just sitting in the garage looking all sexy with aluminum hunk sitting between the frame rails... nothing has happened. its not close to running, so polishing the turd that runs...  :-*

70mm (probably, i didnt check) billet throttle body. bolt on, even has shit on bottom for stock idle hardware. lets hope it all fits. really it should be fine. i know someone else that bought a couple, makes like 800whp and runs 8's. so ehh, probably work on my car too.
the "S90 70mm" throttle bodies run like $295 shipped, for comparison. and those dont heave steel throttle shafts, they are aluminum. not sure i like that idea...

oh, and yes, i did red locktite those throttle blade screws in.  :noel:

obviously i have more shit coming, not bolting that on some cast 80's hardware... ::)

nice dude, thinking about getting my self a intake and throttle body setup. I wasn't going to go 70 mm tho. probably 66
But Im sure the boost would love 70?

of course its a JM Fabrication Race manifold. 1g head, 70mm throttle body flanged.

maybe ill get around to installing it some day...? until then, it looks sexy as hell sitting on my kitchen counter.

how she currently sits. need to remake the upper charge pipe, and tune.

THEN SELL... yes. pretty sure its happening. just need to get off my lazy ass and finish some crap up, find a couple pieces, and polish her for some pics.

i dont drive it, mostly because its not really in "running condition" (it does run fine). but also i dont care much for her anymore. i want to cruise and do burnouts. and i think a G-Body Monte Carlo SS is more fitting for that...

I thought you would have sold this by now O0

not sold....YET... really i would have to post it for sale before it could sell. not always, but helps. while it will generally start and run, hell probably be mobile if i wanted. it really isnt running up to potential of selling it for anything close to what i would need for it. me posting/selling it for $3500 is a huge fuckin insult, and i would rather set fire to it in my driveway first.

i have even less desire to part it out than to do anything else. i will let it sit rotting in my driveway before i ever get around to that shit im sure either. also i have absolutely zero parts to put it back to remotely stock.... not true, i have a stock intercooler, and the EVO suspension. lol. again too much work.

so i worked on her yesterday/today some.

~i cut and welded on the upper charge pipe again. turned out pretty good. and of course i would run out of welding gas on about the last inch of welding, and an hour before the welding supply closed.
~i swapped the 'new' mystery map sensor (dont remember if it was a 3 or 4 bar map, didnt work well as either) with a new 3bar map. works MINT. like reads  -.01hg with key on. :)
~i hooked up the vacuum hose to the new map.... worked ran a shitton better like that ;)

then i messed around with it some trying to get it to run/idle right. it fired off great. idled like 2700rpms. turned the idle screw all the way in and idled 1700ish. once it was warmed up it started to idle surge, aka piss me the F off... done.

PICS! because really, did you read my ramblings? lol.

actually, the plan is to buy an IS300. auto/manual dont care. make that more my DD than the truck. i want it to be wicked handing RWD car. order some Eibach springs and sways, probably Koni yellows/adjustable. and some 17x8 RPF1's.... once i get bored with the auto/2jz shit i will pull the LS6 out of the corner... but i will at least stop dumping money into this car. i really do like it, but i have moved on, rather have RWD performance oriented platform.

price is set at $8500.... anything left over after the IS, will go to the Nova. but again, it needs more time than money.
