Title: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Ratcityrex's BOOSTED white rocket Numbers are in 434/329 on PUMP
Post by: ratcityrex on November 07, 2011, 01:48:07 PM
I picked up 2 integras. 1 was a 94 gsr rolling shell with nothing in it at all. Picked it up for $500
My old crx build thred is here www.realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php/topic,205.0.html (http://www.realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php/topic,205.0.html)
Thats the motor thats gona end up in this car

Quick rundown on the history of this car.
Owner had the car but did not have it insured. It got stolen and the raped everything out of the car, cut ecu harness and all. Owner got it back but it still had a clean title because it didn't have insurance to claim it on. Owner sold it to the next guy. I was gona turn it into a father son race car project but it never happened. Fast forward 4 years until feb 2011, dude puts the car up for sale. I come through and swoop it up. While I was there he was telling me about some dbag that had showed up the day b4 me and was talking about how he had the same car, but wrecked it the night b4. And was gona swap all the parts over. He showed up and decided it was to much work. So while I was buying the car I got the dbags number. Text dbag and decide I would buy it on Saturday. Went and picked it up and now the swapping begins. The car I picked up from dbag was a 98 ls that he slid off the road and into a brick retaining wall. I picked it up for $1500

(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0354.jpg)

So ive still got my built ls out of the crx so thats gona be the heart of the beast. So Ive got alot of swaping from one car to another going on. So when I say rolling shell, i mean shell. NOTHING inside.

It needs work, but you get the idea, on to the pics

(http://http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0353.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/untitled2.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/untitled1.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/untitled3.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/untitled.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP5223.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP5215.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP5219.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP5217.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP5220.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP5227.jpg)

So got all the wiring ripped out and what little bit of interior was still left.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP5227.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP5225.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP5226.jpg)

I have every bit of interior from the donor ripped out and stored down the street at a friends garage.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0401.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0404.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0403.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0402.jpg)

So with everything ripped out of the shell, I cleaned the life out of the inside of the car. With it being kept outside with just a car cover over it, It had the smell of mouse piss in it. GROSS! So I installed all the wiring from headlights to taillights. Installed the sunroof, headliner, and wiring for it.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0396.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0388.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0387.jpg)

Got the battery hooked up to test out some of the wiring b4 I start putting all the interior back together and it all worked.... WHHHOOOO HHHOOOOO!!

So I put down my sound deadening on the whole firewall and plan on doing the whole car. I want a quiet ride. Im using peal & seal instead of dynamat. Per lowerit's advice. It comes out to just over $1 a sq ft.

Firewall b4 Peal & Seal. I used alcohol to prep the surface after I used a scrub brush and purple power.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0387.jpg)
Firewall pad was a little torn up, so duct tape to the rescue.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0392.jpg)

Peal & Seal on firewall
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0391.jpg)

Firewall pad installed and duct tapped.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0394.jpg)
So Just for shits and giggles i threw the back seats in to get them out of the way and see how fitment was.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0395.jpg)

So now im just waiting on my heater core to show up in the mail, and then I can install it and put the dash in and start working on my abs delete that I picked up from a civic in the local junk yard. Hope to have this thing 100% done by summer. We will see.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Got a new turbo for it a few months ago. HOLSLUT BIATHCHHHH!
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/imagejpeg_2_3.jpg)
Got some parts in the mail today.
Sunpro water temp gauge and heater core
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0408.jpg)
So I slapped the heater in along with the ac delete
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0409.jpg)
Then went to work on a little more sound deadning
b4
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0405.jpg)
After
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0407.jpg)
And more work to come today.
Well, got the dash in
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0414.jpg)
and the gauge cluster is all wired up and just got to put the center console and ashtray assembly in and i will be done with the hard part. Hope to finish it up tomorrow. And maybe finish the peal & seal on the passenger side, and put the rear plastic and seatbelts In and that side will be finished.
Well I had a little bit if time today si I did a little work.
Door wiring, and door panel
Didn't do any sound deadning on the door yet. Need to get a new door panel because this one took a pretty good hit when the donor car slammed into the brick wall.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0415.jpg)
Also finished the sound deadning on the passenger side 1/4 panel
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0416.jpg)
Then installed the seatbelts, and rear plastic
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0417.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0418.jpg)
And my oil pressure gauge showed up in the mail
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0420-1.jpg)
well, got some more work done today.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0425.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0426.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0428.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0429.jpg)
Now I just got to figure out how to make the lower seat out of a 01 integra fit in a 94. The clips dont line up at all.
Plan for this weekend is to pull the motor/trans out of the donor and and try and get it in my shell by next weekend. We will see.
Got my gauge pod yesterday. So I put my gauges in to see how it fit. Got it from www.quad-pod.com (http://www.quad-pod.com) I must say its real nice. It doesn't obstruct my view of stock gauges at all.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0437.jpg)
Also got carpet and head gasket today.
Well got a bunch oh shit today off the donor. Not much left to the donor now.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0444.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0445.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0447.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0439.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0442.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0441.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0440.jpg)
Now I got a bunch of work to do!!
Well spent the earlyer part of the week cleaning and organizing the garage. so today I got a few hours and got rid of all the abs shit, and put the civic brake lines and porp valve. Then cleaned up the engine bay. fucker was super dirty. Tomorrow I'm gona try and drop the motor and trans in.
Little bit of a problem with the donor motor.....
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0459.jpg)
I could but I don't give a fuck enough to care. So as I was getting easy to slide that mount in an tighten the last mount down I grabbed it and it wiggled all over the place, so I said fuck it pulled the whole thing out. Sat and pondered a second and decided I would mess with it later. Pull the trans off grabbed my built ls off the stand, yarded the turbo mani and turbo off (my to4e needs a rebuild real bad) I threw it in the car.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0460.jpg)
So I just have to order up some parts. Hope everything gets here in time. I need my obd2-1 jumper harness to show up so I can drive it without throwing a bunch of cels for not having the obd2 shit on there.
well, today I got some little shit done.
Pulled oil pan that had my return line for my turbo and catch can and replaced with a oem pan. Than pulled valve cove and put the stock obd2 valve cover on. While I had it off I pulled the delta cams and put stock cams back in. Also did a valve adjustment. Swapped out my obd1 dizzy for a obd2 dizzy. Swapped out obd1 alternator for obd2 alternator. Bolted up power steering pump and reservoir.
So tomorrow, Im gona swap out iacv, injectors, fuel tank, bolt up shift linkage, finish up power steering shit, and bleed brakes. So much little shit left to do its not even funny. I wish it didnt take so fucking long for Delray Acura - Online Acura Parts Store sto ship shit out. I need 1 little heater core hose and i dont know if it will be here in time for the dyno day. If not I might just bypass the heater core all together.
So I got a bunch of shit done today.
Bleed brakes, swapped crank pully, put belts on, finished boating down power steering shit, put engine wiring harness on, replaced map sensor plug, put Cai on, put exhaust on. Had to mod up my test pipe....lol this about the 5th project its been on...lol FLUXCORE BITCH!
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0462.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0464.jpg)
Got a bunch more stuff to do. Hope to knock out some more work on the weekend.
Got all my new coolent hoses in the mail today from acura. Also got my 4bar that I'm gona put in a stock map sensor case.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0466.jpg)
Put on all the coolent hoses to the heater core and dropped in the radiator in and bolted it down. Also bolted in my pimpin test pipe. Only 1 hose to put on now. From my iacv to the water pump pipe. Also set up a appointment to have my new windshield put in on Tuesday. Getting kinda excited to fire it up. Hope my obd2-1 Ecu harness showed up soon. Also got to borrow some wheels to drive on. We will c how much I can get done this weekend.
Well jumper harness showed up today from Hong Kong. looks good. Also got some 200se se-r wheels to use until I pick up some o wheels of my own. So now its time to get to work!
Well with today being mothers day I don't think I'm gona have time to throw a wrench on it. And with the wife birthday tomorrow I don't know if ill get much done then either. But as long as everything goes smooth(cross fingers) I should fire it up on Tuesday.With the fuel filter off I need to run a few gallons of fuel through the feed line into a bucket. When I pulled the tank that was in this car to swap it out it has some nasty rust colored gas in it. Nothing like 8 gallons of rusty fuel. Wtf am I gona do with that? BONFIRE!
I'm pretty pumped to fire this bitch up, that's for sure!
Well got a new windshield today. $240 bucks later... Fuckers.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0467.jpg)
The 200sx ser wheels dont look half bad on the car either. I need to lower the car. Dont know if I will get time to put my coilovers on b4 the weekend, but as long as all goes well I will be driving this whore to the dyno day.
Also got most all the engine stuff buttoned up. Had to replace the passenger side outer tie rod, but I Fired the whore up!!! SHE RUNS!!!!! All my wiring seems to be ok, but Im pretty sure that im a tooth off on one of the cams. I had to advance the dizzy almost all the way to get it close to 16* But all in all it turned out ok. And it has a pretty good miss. Took it for a spin around the block with no seat..... lol The neighbors were looking at me pretty strange seeing a big dude sitting so low in a car. And couldn't really get it to rev much above 4k without a serious miss. But Ill take a look at that tomorrow. But it was a good day!
Well got a couple of things finished up. Center consoles in, seats are in, front bumper with shitty ebay hype r lip is on.
things on list to do.
1. Get car registered
2. New brake booster line
3. New valve cover gasket
4. New plugs
5. Burn a new tune to the ostrich
6. Fill up the gas tank
7. Put my drivers door wiring in
8. Put drivers door panel on
9. Put my maxspeed coilovers on
10. Install wideband if I have time
11. Wash it up for the dyno day.
We will see how much of this I will get accomplished today
Well thought I could get away with a stock tune with the Chris m throttlebody/intake. Nope, gona have to tune some shit. Way lean around 3k with light part throttle. Gona toss in my wideband tomorrow and see what's happening.
on a side note. I put about 5 miles on it today
Well no tuning got done today. Replaced the bulbs for the cell to find out what was up and I had a solid cel. So figured out that my ostrich is whacked out. It accepts my commands, but doesn't send it to the ribbon to the Ecu. So I slapped a stock tune on a chip and went out for a few rippers. Felt ok but can tell I need to tune it bad. Came back from a few 3rd gear pulls and noticed the exhaust was real hot, shot my base timing and low and behold I was off about 8*-10* retarded. So haven't driven it since, but gona hop on the dyno tomorrow and see what's up. Hope the rest of the car holds together on my drive over to the dyno day. Man I'm beat ill update u guys later.
Well spent the whole day yesterday at the pnw fluffy dyno day. WHAT A BLAST!! Once again, more fun than the previous year. So got the car running and went and did a little tuning on the way to the dyno. All the way across the board in part throttle it was lean. Like 16.5-16.8 lean. At wot it was running in the low 14's So I added about 15% fuel to the whole part throttle bit. and 10% to wot, and then another 5% after that. Jumped on the dyno and made 120whp thats 4whp less than I did with the stock intake manifold/plate/tb. Figured it was part exhaust size. Old was 2.5 all the way through, and this was stock sized untill after the test pipe. So thats like what? 1.75" Its pretty small for sure. But sitting at home last night I started thinking about my timing. Took a look at the map, and I was running 5.5*-6.6* less timing across the board. At wot, it was 6.5* less this time than my old map, so I figure in reality, it would have made a fair amount more. The fact that I had to add 15% more fuel shows that right there. Overall Im real happy with how it turned out.
I will say for some reason this car handles better than any other ef/eg/ek/da/dc Ive ever driven. I dont know why, but its so damn stable in the turns its wild.
(http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h171/iitru45/RHMT%20dyno%20day%20may%2014th%202011/th_IMGP5258.jpg) (http://s64.photobucket.com/albums/h171/iitru45/RHMT%20dyno%20day%20may%2014th%202011/?action=view&current=IMGP5258.mp4)
And I only got 2k into this car so far, and I hven even sold but like 2 tings off this car. I think when its all said and done, ill have about $1200 into the rolling shell with leather interior and a trans. The only thing I needed to provide would have been my motor at that point.
Well I got a deal on a jdm type r head with a aebs intake mani so going to pick it up right now as we speak! Just got to get a few odds and ends and then will be ready to rock!
so chris m at www.polarbeartuning.com (http://www.polarbeartuning.com) has my aebs intake mani and is working his magic on it. Should have it this week. And then Im shooting to slap it all together in the next week or so.
Got home today and guess what was on the front porch.....
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0568.jpg)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0570.jpg)
THats right..... 225/50-15 :)
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0585.jpg)
Well I now have the type r head on. Used the speedfactory lsvtec kit. And its weeping oil from the corner of the head where the dowel pins are, I think. I have to clean it up and make sure its not coming from the valve cover, But I have a feeling I will be pulling the head and grinding the dowels down a little bit. Got a basemap from the nog leed and this car runs pretty good. Other than slapping the head on, II haven't touched this car in months. Garage is a fucking wreck. Its full of my sisterinlaws stuff. Im storing it for her for the next few weeks whiles shes in between houses. Once her stuff is out of there Im doing a dump run. Its time to get both of my cars back into the garage for the winter nights. Once all her stuff is out I can start slapping the turbo stuff on my car and get it ready for some nog setting boost!
So thats where im at now.
Man, those tires are dirty cheap. Once I slap the turbo on I don't think I will be able to get traction with any tires. Unless its a dr. With that being said. Running dr on the street for a daily isn't the best idea. And i know that the 512s do great in the snow. And I don't feel bad about burning them up.
ok, so I got a couple of things done.
1. Got my RHMT extended top hats built. Although ripping through them on the hf Mig I managed to flip one of the pieces and weld it on upside down, so it has to meet Mr. Chop saw and get re welded.
2. Received my ported 12cm exhaust housing from crxvtec91
3. Got a Holset exhaust flange from Adam At Columbia River Mandrel Bends
4. Welded up my 3" x 1/2" exhaust piece on the Holset exhaust flange so I could weld my v-band flange to it so I could still get to the bolts if I had to.
5. Made a 4bar map sensor in a stock case.
6. Received my 2.5" 90* silicon coupler for my Holset, so Now I just need to grind down the v-band on the outlet of the compressor.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0823.jpg)
And I also Had a buddy weld a couple of an -10 fittings on my spare valve cover so I can vent it when this bitch is boosted.
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0826.jpg)
7. So I got me a ebay 3 point strut tower bar for christmas so now that bitch is bolted on now too.
And soon this car should rip with some nog boost!
I started the tophats about 4 months ago, and since then the aluminum ones on eBay have drop like a hotrex wot. So they are now about 60ish shipped or some shit like that. But since I already had a spare set and they were cut I figured I would finish them up. But to answered your question I went 2" long on the extensions because I'm not gona slam the car. Also got a lifetime alignment for my birthday a few weeks ago from the wife. So once I get it dropped to where I want it I need to setup a appointment with firestone to get my shit straightened out.
Trust me nig, if les had a lifetime alignment I would have asked for that, but seeing as how they bend you over every time you want to take it in to have it done. Can't beat a lifetime alignment for $130
Make sure you pressure test the sensor with a cup, bucket, and water. I put a clear glass in a bucket of water, turn the cup over with no air in it, then put the sensor under. I keep 60psi on it for an hour or two and look for any new air.
Glad to see someone fabbing all their own stuff here. I do the same shit myself. O0
Well I think I'm gona pull the trigger on ectune today. I think once I get it and get it figured out ill throw my 4 bar in and then see how that does na. If it goes pretty good Ill wire up my resistor box and throw my 72# injectors and rewire my fuel pump and drop in my 255 at the same time. But ill probably try and do that over the next week or so. Also I was really considering going with Neptune, but the nig Tuber said go with ectune
Well IM DOIN WORK! Got ectune. Took me awhile to figure out all the flaming hoops of glory but got it down. Tuned the car pretty easy myself. To the point I would feel comfortable tuning it on 15lbs myself.  And then taking it to the nog for the final rippers. Also been doing some work in the garage finally (4 years later) wiring up my lights. I had 2 light bulbs hanging from the 12' ceiling. I now have 8 8' HO florescent fixtures. Im gona get a sunburn while working on cars now. So Friday and Saturday are gona be dedicated car days for me this week. Got a huge list of things I want to knock out.
1. Get metal shavings out of valve cover
2. Put on new valve cover
3. New oil pan gasket
4. Put my other oil pan with my turbo return line bungs on.
5. New cam seal/vtec sol gasket/dizzy oring
6. Put half core rad in
7. Put new cv axles in
8. Wire up resistor pack and put 72# injectors in
9. Put 255 pump in and re wire with 10 gauge and relay
10. Put 4 bar map sensor in
11. Tune it so I can at least drive it
12. Mount intercooler for mock up
13. Start fab of charge pipes
14. Grind Compressor vband off.
15. IDK what else, ill have to look at my whiteboard if I get that far.
Well I had a friend weld up a couple of -10 an bungs on a spare valve cover that he had. Turned out good but he didn't clean out the metal shavings b4 he painted it for me. Needless to say I couldn't use the good old brake cleaner to wash out all the shavings. So said fuck it, in the dishwasher it went. Loaded her up with dishwasher detergent, and set that fucker to pots and pans. House later it was spick and span clean.  It left some water spots on the valve over...lol should have used jet dry... So a little simple green and a paper towel and its good as new!
Got some of the shit done. Also put my Russell fuel filter fitting in with my fuel pressure gauge. Confirmed that the car ran with injectors. Ran rich, but fairly ran. Flushed the coolent system because the copper head gasket spray that was on the portion of the head gasket where the coolent hits made that water fucking nasty. So I got the half core in but before I go any further with installing it I pulled the front bumper off because I figured while its out I can get my intercooler mocked up and see where I need to hack my radiator support for the double back door portion of the charge pipes to clear. Also gona buff the headlights lenses while the bumper is off too. I'll get pics if shit tomorrow while I button shit up.
While it may not seem like alot of work in a whole, it was very time consuming getting the intercooler and radiator installed non ghetto fabulous. It turned out really good though. I like how stout and secure everything is.  Pics!
After modding brackets and bumper cover
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0877.jpg)
Also threw on the turbo return/catch can return oil pan
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0844.jpg)
Also put on the new valve cover
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0841.jpg)
also slipped the resistor box in
(http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0843.jpg)
and no nigger rigging here. I de pinned and repinned the resistor so I wouldt have to cut and splice. Although I was bummed I had to cut and solder inw injector clips, But it turned out ok. Just took up more time. Story of my life.
Also ran out of time, but I didnt get to take a pic of how well the bumper fitment with the intercooler turned out But I will. Since I had the bumper cover off I also did a quick buff on the headlights so I can actually see at night. And did  quick basemap so I could drive it to work.
My life plans for this week are quick 15 min jobs on the car. I need to drop the walbro 255 in and wire up a relay for it to.
Put the 4bar in now that I know everything runs pretty smooth with the stock one and I know I didnt fuck anything up. I was gona do it while I had everything apart, but then If I had any problems with injectors I didnt want to be chasing my tale trying to sort shit out. And maybe some odds and ends here and there too.
Cause I know its gona be way to loud for my liking. So ill ask u guys, what muffler should I run? I'm looking for 3",  quiet, flows enough for 400+whp  and cheap.
Depends what size, I would hit up craigslist there has to be some guy who has a used 3" hooker race muffler, Mufflers without packing that are welded cant really go bad on the inside.
I Actually have a beefy resonator that was originally from a srt4 Injen stainless steel exhaust system. I ran it on my crx with no muffler and it was loud. But im gonna put that  in behind the resonator that comes with the ebay n1 exhaust. And probably run that and see how it sounds. If its still to loud Im gona add a magnaflow. I thinking a 5x8x24 if I can get ti to fit. I need to take a bunch of measurements b4 I order it.
There was no way I would be able to get a 2.5" coupler over that thing. Unless it was a rubber home depot coupler.
Only a few things left on the hot sheet. I fixed all my oil leaks to find out that my intake cam cap orings is still leaking with new orings on the skank9 came seal. SO now I got to fix that again, and I also discovered that my 2 1/8" plugs that are in my sandwich plate are seeping oil out as well. But After I get that shit fixed Im sure Ill find more oil leaks....lol
Well got the old China style eBay steering wheel off and put a stock del sol one on. Now its time to butcher the stock obd1 srs clock spring and figure out how to hook it up to my obd2 chassis harness for my cruise control since they are total different. I don't give a fuck about the airbag, but I do want cruise.
I'm trying, but fml! It's a bitch to tear shit apart and throw it back together for me to drive to work the next day. This is truly a daily driver. And on top of that I've been working 6 days a week. Gona try and put my alarm, amp/subs, walbro and relay in on Friday. And if I get that done ill try and get the rest of my gauges in and wired. Then put interior back together and carpet. We'll see
Got my amp wiring kit today. Got all the wires for my relay wired up. Just need to cut a board and bolt it in the trunk and then bolt the sub box in and run the power from the distribution block to the relay and slap the 4bar in and tune. Then I Also got a relay half way installed for my wideband, cause I want it to have its own power supply. Once that's done, ill put my graphic eq in..lol and run my rca's to my amp and finally put all my interior back together for the last time ::)
Well I never got the board to cover the spare tire with either one of my cars, So I said fuck it, they always fall apart and warp anyways so Ill make my own. Also put the distribution block on the sub box and ran the relay for the pump off it. Fuckers got juice now!! I had to take about 10-20% fuel out. I also slapped in the 4bar and got it to run good enough to get me to work this morning. Still need to clean the tune up huge. But It works and thats all I care about for now.
Now I just need to fix my cam cap oil leak, and get my temp gauge and oil pressure gauge hooked up and set finish setting up the relay for my wideband. Then Ill start on the downpipe and cold side charge pipe!  :evil:
Not to bad, I put my plastics in and made a template out of some cardboard and transferred it over to the board. I don't run a spare tire because I don't have one, and I hardly ever drive my car out of town. But I need to pick up a doughnut spare that will fit over the larger brakes. So it has to be a 15"
Friday I put in a new clutch master because mine was starting to leak a touch. Also set my base timing again. Then wired up a relay for my wideband so now it has its own power from that battery.
Saturday,
So I did a little touch of tuning today with it na. Starting to feel pretty comfortable with ectune. So after I tuned all the.part throttle up to 4k, I went ahead and fucked with the battery offset voltage like a jack ass because I keep having idle afrs issues. One minits it was fine, next minute it was 2 points leaner, forgot that I hadn't done them yet and now I have to total retune all my part throttle again..lol but on a side note, my idle is fucking tits....lol
Yeah, as long as I can get the nig nog to take a look at my map b4 I hop on the dyno and rape it. I think the weakest link is gona be the clutch. Which is a LSD motorsports dragged clutch and its suppose to hold 332tq, which will equal more power than ill probably be use to....lol but I'm ready for. I thought a couple years ago that the clutch wasn't gona hold up but it took the abuse just fine. Was probably pretty close to that mark with the ls. It was at 290tq at the wheels so who knows what is was at the crank.
Fuck the Easter bunny! I punched that sucker in the mouth and took his candy and his eggs! So I did some work on the car eating candy and ripping egg farts while under the car.
So another time consuming day was had welding up exhaust. But its all done!
The stock obd0 4into1 constructing header.
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP6177.jpg)
Old turbo and old downpipe with the new turbo next to it.
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP6178.jpg)
A little side by side action
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP6179.jpg)
All mounted up and ready to bolt it up for some mock up action.
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP6180.jpg)
So it wouldn't fit with the compressor housing on because I have to cut the wastegate tabs off the turbo due to it hitting the power steering pump bracket. So I just left the exhaust housing mounted to the splog and pulled the rest of the turbo off. Also looks like I need to cut the vband off because with it on it would have ran it my slave pretty bad I thing.
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP6185.jpg)
So off to the chop saw!
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP6188.jpg)
Same goes for the old downpipe, cut the flange off and thten went to fit it up and see how close I was.
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP6190.jpg)
What do u know, fucker fits perfect!
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP6194.jpg)
My 16 year old brother was on spring break from school so he came over from Seattle to help out with some of the work that's just to much for one set of hands like holding exhaust in place while I tac weld it. Here he is cleaning up a couple spots on the downpipe flange.
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP6199.jpg)
So I ordered up some China 3" exhaust for 115 shipped. Not to bad but man this shit is pretty thin. Gona cut the end off and add a resonator from my old crx exhaust to try and quiet it down as much as I can. Probably end up adding a magnaflow muffler later and getting rid of the cheap China n1 muffler. Looks to ricey for me.
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP6195.jpg)
Over all the exhaust fit ok, now I need to bend a few heat shields here and there, but better than mocking up from scratch. So I will say that this pipe smells very bad when up cut and when u weld it. I have no idea why, but maybe its something to do with that Chinaman oils or something. Anyways it all welded up and here is the final shot. Now its time to do the cold side charge pipe. Probably knock that out tomorrow.
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMGP6200.jpg)
Also took out the stupid short shifter that was in the car. The fuck stick that had it b4 me decided it needed to be a real short shifter and cut about 3" off the top of the shifter and rethreaded it. Nothing lime grabbing the fucker right at the console to try and ahift. Now I have a factory gsr duel bend shifter in there. It's like fucking butter. I love it! Thanks dustin for the hookup. Should have done it along time ago.
I also scored a tank for it for $20 and got a Plx for the end of it for $5 so all in all I'm into this welder about $100 with gauges, new tips and a full tank with a new spool of wire. Finally got all my settings dialed in and now I can lay some pretty nice weld with this thing. Gona knock out my cold side charge pipe today.
Well, got in my new spal 12" pusher fan. Unfortunately it won't fit on my half core and still fit in my car. The new motor that is on this thing is massive. So I checked to see if my stock full sized radiator will fit. It does but just barely. The compressor housing is about 1/8" away. So I moved my radiator mount back over to where it probably was. Also had to trim my power steering lines so I could get a filter on my turbo. Otherwise I would have to get a short body filter, and I wasn't about to spend more money on it.
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0941.jpg)
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0943.jpg)
 (http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd518/ratcityrex/IMAG0946.jpg)
So Sunday I'm putting the rad in and I have to wire up my fans with relays and fuses. So I'm running a 12and a 10" pusher fan on a full sized radiator. So I don't think I should have any cooling problems at all.
So since my brother in law was rushing me to get the shit on last week I spent 3 hours fixing the shit that would have only taken another 30 min the first time. But I now have my feed line ran properly, to where its not rubbing on shit, Also dot have nigger rigged fittings on the back of my sandwich plate to hook up my feed line. Also got my return line from the turbo fixed so I don't have 5/8" line shoved onto my 3/4" fittings. Also got my wires and relays for the fans all done except for just a couple of connections. Got to see what wire is the 12v on the stock fan plug so I trip the relays, then drop in the radiator and make a couple of tabs to hold the top of the rad from flopping around. So thats todays plans. Ill post pics later once im done.
Post by: HiProfile on April 24, 2012, 02:58:26 AM
Why get a new rad? That port sees ZERO pressure, and maybe the slightest amount of vacuum (when rad cools and sucks in overflow). A bit of JB weld and a softer hose will fix it til you get a better rad. I'd do that and order an ebay special.
Title: Re: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~Ratcityrex's white rocket rebuild NO 56kkk soon to be boosted!
Post by: ratcityrex on April 24, 2012, 12:55:13 PM
I though about taping it, but there isn't much material to tap and I'm sure it would probably break/leak down the road. Though about jb weld but I know its gona get a ton of vibration and will probably leak as well. So I looked for the eBay specials and there about $65 shipped. For another $40 I can get a brand new one from the parts store so I got one coming and it should be here around 2:30 today. So with new radiator fan ties in hand, I'm just waiting for the radiator to show up.
Fill up the rad, took it out for a quick spin. Boost cut @ 3psi hits about 3k. So u bumped it to 5, then 8 then 10, then 12, then 13...lol and I hit boost cut about 7500, rev limit is @ 8k. So I decided to stop there since there's no one to call if something fucks up....lol Car is a total handful @ 12psi.....lol 12psi from the hx35 feels about like 20psi in my crx with the old setup. Hard to tell when its wet out, but It fucking flys through the rpm range. I can tell that its gonna be a rocket once I get traction
Well I initially hit the 3psi boost cut b4 3k. So full boost was supper quick. B4 I knew it I was at 13psi boost cut @ 7500. So I didn't even get to hit the rev limiter. And then I realized that I still have my .cv valve hooked up and no crank case evacuation. So I stopped ripping on it. But it will rocking by the weekend for sure.
Well got home from work last night and checked the cardboard under the car to see if there were any drips or leaks and it was dry as could be. So todays goal is to get the catch can mounted and the lines ran and if the roads dry up start a new basemap :D
got everything all together now I gotta just figure out my wste gate issues. have a 12 pound spring in there and hold until 5000 rpm and after 5000 rpm creeps up until I hit boost cut @ 14lbs. so I put a 4 pound spring in it at a hold until 5000 rpm and then climbs 12-13lbs. When I had the wg apart yesterday I noticed that the valve was sticking and woukd only lift about 1/4" and then get stuck. So I cleans everything up but it still creeps. So I think wg might be fucked. So time to slap the parts on my parts wg and see if it works. I'll post up later.
Well I robbed my friends cdm wg that's brand new sitting in the box in the corner of my garage. The one I origanly stole parts from. Put it all back to the way it was right out of the box, and slapped it on the car. Holds 10lbs from 5500-8000 now with no creep. So time to put the dump tube back on and set up the boost controller. Slap the catch can lines on and then order up a axle seal for the pass side, because its got a little leak from the trans.
For the lean-ness, select the affected boost column and up, and give it 4 "increase value" button clicks.  Select next column and up, do the same.
Good I got it ballparked.  It's a crapshoot sometimes to get the right park but I'm glad it was at least a safe afr.
Once u get it solid, enable VTEC and you should easily be able to get that tuned out.
And after afr is Done, I'll do some timing magic for you :)
Catch can is in! Need to get a couple of heat slaves to put over the catch can lines. Couldn't find any braided line local for a decent price so went with this veal. Would rather use garden hose if it didn't get so hot.
Also replaced pass side axle seal. Bitch was leaking pretty good. Seems good now though. Getting a alignment tomorrow, and if the roads dry up I might get a touch of basemap clean up action!
Well, I started a new ectune basemap. Because u didn't like my injector offset that I had in there and It keep throwing my shit off. Think I got it dialed in pretty good to. Also pulled a little less timing this time in boost. Only pulling 1* per lb instead of 1.25* Also made a bracket for the lowes air compressor boost controller and got it mounted. Also got the Holset cracking out about 16lbs of boost. Fucker screams. Excited for next weekend to get here to have Dave take a look at this whore and see what kind of numbers it can put down. Oh, and also want to crank it up until I need race fuel or my clutch slips. But we will see. So far the car feels really fucking sting on the top end. Rolls into boost nice.
Well I met my goal.........
I said I was gonna push something to the limit. And I did.....and that was time. If I had more I would have kept cracking the mbc up. I was hitting and holding 27.1psi and the last 500rpms it was falling to 25.9psi so it held pretty solid. Maybe next year we will crank it up some more and mix in a little race fuel. All in all I'm really fucking happy.
Thanks man. I don't know if the clutch would have held much more. Think I might try some different cams and go for 500 on pump. So Levi thought that they were b17 cams. Last year he said they were gsr. And they are, b17 gsr cams. Might try and get hold of some itr cams and go for broke!
or newer obd2 gsr cams which are very close to itr spec. Same goes for jdm sir-2 b16a units. ff-squad has the ring pics so you can id what your looking at
either way great job. Now does it feel faster than the crx with the extra weight?
Title: Re: Ratcityrex's BOOSTED white rocket rebuild Numbers are in 27psi = 434/329 on PUMP
Post by: ratcityrex on May 14, 2012, 01:21:57 PM
As for the cams, I was on ff squad last year when I picked up the cams from Levi and Sewell couldn't even Identify them either. Said he mic them and they were just a touch smaller than itr. So Im sure they are some crazy Canada jdm import b17cams because the marking don't match anything Ive ever seen online or in person. At any rate they make pretty good power.
No, it doesn't feel faster because I cant get traction in any gear. Before I pulled it on the dyno it felt faster than my crx because I got great traction with it. It just pulled so smooth and hard. Jumped on the dyno with the same basemap I was running on the street and it made 288whp. So it was about 10 less hp than the crx, and a lot less tq, and 400lbs heavier and it still felt faster because of the traction. Now Im gonna set up boost by gear. Now i did a quick pull on the hwy with it on the way home, and I can say its by far the fastest car Ive ever driven or rode in.
Its funny, i was able to dead hook 350ft/lbs. I would your traction issue is more due to the stronger mid range of a B over a D.
The tq doesn't really roll in it just rockets from 175tq to 330tq in 500rpms.
So since it was so nice out today I figured I would take the car out for a rip. The thing is fast enough to scare me. Flat out scared me. 4th gear is no joke, I didn't even take it to the top if 4th because that over 135mph. and on some back roads its not cool. But the car does pretty good on traction above 6k in second and all of 3rd and 4th. And it spoils like a fucking champ. I'm at 25psi @ 5k.
It is fun, But I took a gander under the hood last night and saw that the vacuum cap that I had on the port on the compresser cover is gone. SO theres a little boost leak. God know how long its been gone for.
Also noticed watching my video of me doing pulls on the dyno that I need some mounts.... Looked at my rad and noticed that Turbo smacks it after a hard pull and I let off. Needless to say its gonna cause a pretty good leak here at this rate. I dont want to upgrade to hard mounts like I had in the crx because it vibrated my teeth out. And I like the soft squishy ride that I have now. I have es inserts in the rear and side trans mounts, and it looks like prothane makes a insert for the drivers side mount but I hear it makes the car rattle pretty good. And well, Im old and Kinda want a quiet car. If it wasn't my daily, I wouldn't care.
So I was thinking about making a home made dampener to slow the movement of the motor. Like using a rear coil over shock from a mountain bike. If any of you nogs have an Idea chime in....
And a log if u have one...
I wanna see why that dyno graph looks like that....
Otherwise I know how you feel...
T04e fed into a Jrsc unregulated...  Gives you the same feeling you get @6k, at about 4k....    Whiplash machine;  doubly so when boostcut was set at 18psi (top seen was 38; usually 32 from heat losses).  This is 6.5psi turbo x 6.5psi Jrsc - heat losses from Jrsc == retarded.  Resulted in exploded oem jdm d15b.
You can see where you reach target boost;  the graph hp increases, but is very wavy....  Usually you see a steady increasing flatline or curve.  Also how tq rises just after 6k and doesn't stay flat ( showin me its not being tuned for mbt; in which tuning for mbt is when you usually see the best power curve).
Well I really wouldn't call it a tune, more like "have Dave, watch my shit on the dyno and make sure I don't blow it up"
I'm leaving for Jamaica in 3 weeks to go on vacation and when I get back I'm gonna probably get with dave and have a full street tune done, and then finish it off on the dyno until my clutch slips.
Also, we were running old crusty ngk 4644 that were gapped @ .035 and then threw a set of 4554s in and it cleaned up a little. So I have a feeling that there is still quite a bit more power to be made. It's just a matter of weather or not I can put it to the payment.
On a side note, I was thinking about how I can keep my nice soft mounts, and also not hit my radiator. With my turbo, And I think I'm going to Try some sort of limiting strap that will keep my motor from moving forward to far when I let off the throttle after a rip.
Title: Re: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Ratcityrex's BOOSTED white rocket Numbers are in 434/329 on PUMP
Post by: JaredKaragen on May 16, 2012, 05:18:03 PM
I see 30-50+up based on the drop in tq and the dip before 6k.
I know for sure it's the VTEC crossover causing the early dip; but your fuel and timing maps will reveal the true story of the pre and post 6k dips.
Plus I'm interested to see final timing's role in your hp number.... And how far you pushed it up if at all.
I myself gravitate toward .75*/psi above 6pounds...  On extremely high compression your timing window is immensely smaller.
So if u get a chance, shoot it over.  I'll give some notes on what I see and why it affects it.  Helps you build the knowledge :)
4554 is my favorite plug.  Never needed 9's...  I generally rape 7173 until I get blowout @.019; then switch to 4554 @.027 and work my way down.
Yeah I dont have a the front trans mount because the trans is busted off right there. An I never had the bracket on the drivers side so kinda shitty. I did put the energy suspension insert in the rear mount, but it you watch the video of it on the dyno that fucker just uses that rear mount as a pivot point to rock on. So I think I might try and build a homemade traction bar. I have 4' of some beefy ass 2" sch 60 tubing and a extra set of factory tow hooks that Ill probably weld the tubing too. And then get a torque mount and bolt that from the where the trans bolts to the motor down to the trac bar.
Got a buddy that's gonna trade me one straight across for his ls trans in his car as he is using hasport mounts and doesn't even run his lower tq mount on his transmission.
Well its sold. Since the last time I posed in the thread my family has grown. Had a kid and swinging a car seat in and out of this teg everyday was a pain. Had a really good friend that was looking for a boosted car and I told him I would sell him my dc. He paid me $6250. Figured I didn't do to bad considering I only paid $500 for this rolling chassis. Probably broke even with everything I've put into it. I installed new carpet b4 i sold it. Hes gonna clean this thing up better than i ever would have.
So I figured the nova is gonna get all the attention now. Kinda done with worrying about if my daily driver is gonna get stolen and all that. The nova stays in the garage unless I'm out beating on it. It has some big plans for the future. Tpi, boost, and dirty 3rds......
In the meantime i Picked up a new daily beater. 96 accord lx 4 door 5 speed non vtec, non abs :) $1800
I'm the 3rd owner of it. The guy I bought it from is in the Navy and is getting shipped overseas. He bought it from the the 1st owner who lives in the same town as me and all the original paperwork from when it was purchased from the dealer is in the glovebox. Clear coat is peeling in some spots and the front bumper has some pretty good scratches in it but for a daily beater I'm pretty happy. Only spent 1800 so I can't really bitch. Overall I really like it.
Gonna do a timing belt and water pump cam seal and balance shaft seal. Ordered up some window tint gonna try my hand at doing it myself. I guess I'll see how much of a pain it is. Other than that I'm gonna drive it until the wheels fall off.
One of the biggest reasons i come here is to see hondas not owned by fgts.
Nice numbers, i feel you on the "i'm scared of having my shit deebo'd".  Still sucks to see people "finish" their car and just get rid of them.
Would have at least tracked it to see what it would run.  Borrow slicks, fix the motor mounts and run it then sell it.  Haha.
I know it's a low 11 second car. Don't need the track to tell me that. Unless I'm stevemode....lol what ever. It was a fun build but not as fun as the crx with d16a6 and a rhb5 at 175whp. I could just hold that bitch wot everyware I went. Onto new boosted things, like my nova.....:)
Busted out some work on the acura today. Flushed the coolent system, replaced the ignition switch, fixed a exhaust rattle and fixed the air filter. I will say that the car has never looked so clean. And boy it sounds fucking sexy when driving away. Haven't ever really heard it from the outside....lol
And yes........
Other than that I'm gonna drive it until the wheels fall off.
In that case, at least get a Delta 272 & F23 intake manifold. Or a 42/48 turbo, then it will feel like a stronger version of your d16a6.
I'm just gonna go ahead and bring this thread back from the dead. Two questions: is this car still alive?
And with your Chris M special throttle body- did you have any trouble with idle? Seems like some of these aftermarket throttle bodies don't have an idle screw to adjust airflow past the throttle plate.
Mine idles super low until the IACV tries to compensate, and then I get that annoying-as-fuck idle surge. It seems like some people adjust the tb plate screw to keep the plate open a tiny bit at idle. But that seems ghetto, wondering if you did something else?
Idk if the car is still around. I saw it up for sale last spring about 1 year ago. (I sold it to a good friend and then a year later he sold it to a good friend, then a year later I saw him selling it)
I think I see it from time to time but idk. It does have a leed bulletproof tune in it. I also pulled 2° of timing about 14psi b4 I sold it. So that way my buddy wouldn't blow it up.
 My idle was solid as fuck. Not once did it fuck around. Iirc I did adjust my stop screw to bump my idle up, and then set my tps.
Word. I probably just need to adjust my stop screw more then. I might try the old tps recalibration, never realized it was a thing until I just googled it. What you driving now?
This integra use to be my daily. I picked up a 96 accord that was bone syock and im still rocking that. My new/old toy is my 66 nova. I got it back in 2012, and threw a small block 327 in it. Drive it for 2 summers and then pulled the motor out and sold it. Have a 6.0 iron block lsx that I put twin 54mm turbo on but it's been sitting for about 1.5 years now. Wife and I sold our house last April and bought 5 acres. In the middle of building our new house now. Have a few more months until we're done then I can get back to building the nova. Hope to have it all done with all the bugs worked out and driving by next summer.
Ah yes, the Nova. It looks like you're building a proper size garage to make that magic happen! I have a holset hy35 that I just brought into our living room this weekend. It needs a new compressor wheel, and I've got the itch to turbo things. The place we're buying has no garage, and not much of a driveway even, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do about car projects yet. Thinking about seeing if I can rent a garage/commercial space somewhere for the bigger projects...
